Assault – FIR Registered After RAF Jawan Allegedly Attacked During Protest March
Assault – Delhi Police on Wednesday confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered after a video circulating on social media appeared to show a Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel being chased and assaulted by a group of protesters during a march organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Authorities said the case has been taken up for investigation, and efforts are underway to identify those responsible for the alleged attack.
Video Triggers Police Action
According to police officials, the video gained widespread attention across multiple social media platforms. The footage reportedly shows the RAF jawan being surrounded by several participants before being chased and physically assaulted during the demonstration. The incident is believed to have taken place on Monday when CJP supporters marched towards Parliament, demanding accountability from the government over alleged irregularities in examinations.
Police have not yet confirmed the authenticity of every aspect of the video but stated that it provided sufficient grounds to register a formal case and begin a detailed investigation into the incident.
Investigation Underway to Identify Accused
Officials said investigators are examining the available video footage and other digital evidence to determine the sequence of events. The focus of the inquiry is to identify the individuals allegedly involved in the assault and establish their roles during the protest.
Police added that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation. Additional evidence, including recordings from surveillance cameras and statements from witnesses, may also form part of the inquiry.
Earlier Cases Linked to Parliament March
The latest FIR comes days after Delhi Police registered four separate cases in connection with violence and disruption reported during the “Sansad Chalo” march held on July 20. The protest was organised jointly by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and several farmers’ groups, drawing participants from different locations.
Authorities had earlier reported incidents of violence, vandalism and public disorder during the march, leading to legal action at multiple police stations, including Parliament Street and Connaught Place.
Multiple Legal Provisions Invoked
Police said the earlier cases include offences registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Relevant provisions of the Arms Act and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act have also been invoked in connection with the reported incidents.
Officials have not disclosed the total number of people booked in the earlier FIRs, but investigations into all related cases remain in progress. Police continue to review evidence collected from the protest route to determine the extent of any unlawful activities and identify those allegedly involved.
With the registration of the latest FIR related to the alleged assault on the RAF jawan, authorities are expanding their investigation into the events surrounding the Parliament march. Police have urged anyone with credible information or relevant evidence to cooperate with investigators as the inquiry continues.,
