RoadAccident – Six Friends Killed After Speeding Truck Hits Group on MP Highway
RoadAccident – Six young men lost their lives in a tragic road accident after a speeding truck allegedly struck them while they were standing along the roadside on National Highway-45 in Madhya Pradesh’s Narsinghpur district. The fatal incident occurred on Sunday evening as the group was returning from a visit to Hathinala Waterfall, leaving their families and local residents in deep shock.

Friends Had Stopped Briefly During Return Journey
According to police officials, the victims had been on a picnic to Hathinala Waterfall, located near the Narsinghpur-Jabalpur border. While heading back home, they reportedly stopped near Indira Nagar, within the jurisdiction of Suatla police station, at around 6 p.m. Investigators believe the group had stepped out of their vehicle and gathered near the roadside to take photographs when the accident took place.
Witnesses and the initial police inquiry indicate that a fast-moving Hyva truck suddenly veered toward the roadside and crashed into the group. The impact was severe, leaving several victims critically injured. The truck driver reportedly fled the location immediately after the collision without stopping to assist the victims.
Four Died Instantly, Two Succumbed in Hospital
Emergency responders and local residents rushed to the scene after hearing cries for help. Four of the six victims were declared dead at the accident site because of the seriousness of their injuries. The remaining two were transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment but later died during the night despite doctors’ efforts.
The deceased have been identified as Rajendra Patel, Virendra Lodhi (20), Rampal Singh Lodhi (21), Jaipal Singh Lodhi (30), Akash Singh Lodhi (24), and Neeraj Singh Lodhi (25). All of them belonged to Pavla village in Jabalpur district and had reportedly travelled together for the outing.
Police Launch Search for Truck Driver
Additional Superintendent of Police Sandeep Bhuria said the victims were standing beside the highway after completing their picnic when the truck struck them. He confirmed that a criminal case has been registered and multiple police teams have been assigned to locate the vehicle and arrest the driver responsible for the incident.
Officials said investigators are gathering physical evidence from the accident site while also speaking with witnesses who were present nearby when the crash occurred. The police are treating the case with priority because of the large number of casualties.
CCTV Footage Under Examination
As part of the investigation, police are reviewing CCTV recordings collected from cameras installed near the accident location as well as surrounding stretches of the highway. The footage is expected to help establish the truck’s route and identify the driver who escaped after the collision.
Authorities believe the visual evidence, along with forensic findings from the scene, will assist in tracking the vehicle involved. Police have assured the victims’ families that every effort is being made to identify and apprehend the accused at the earliest.
Post-Mortem Conducted as Investigation Continues
After completing legal formalities, the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination before being handed over to their respective families. The tragic loss has brought grief to Pavla village, where relatives and residents gathered to mourn the young men.
Police have stated that the investigation remains ongoing, and further findings will emerge as evidence is examined and the search for the truck driver progresses. Authorities have also urged motorists to exercise caution on highways and follow traffic rules to reduce the risk of such devastating accidents.
