Investigation Moves Forward

The victim, the daughter of a farm labourer originally from Darwha taluka in Yavatmal district, was found dead by her parents on Wednesday evening. According to police officials, her body was discovered lying in a pool of blood, and investigators believe she suffered fatal injuries after being struck on the head with a large stone.

Following an investigation carried out by a 14-member police team, authorities arrested a suspect identified as Rahul Raju Madavi. Officials said the accused had been employed as a labourer on agricultural land located next to the victim’s residence. Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder, along with charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act based on the complaint filed by the girl’s family. A medical examination has already been completed, while the final forensic report is still awaited.

Public Anger Leads to Demonstrations

The incident sparked large-scale demonstrations across Wardha, with local residents gathering to express their anger over the crime. Protesters staged a sit-in and blocked roads, demanding the harshest possible punishment for the accused. Many called for the death penalty, saying strict action was necessary to ensure justice and deter similar crimes.

The demonstrations continued as police and local authorities monitored the situation and appealed for peace. The case has drawn significant attention across the district due to the brutal nature of the crime and the young age of the victim.

Assurances Given to Victim’s Family

Wardha Member of Parliament Amar Kale visited the hospital to meet the grieving family and interact with residents participating in the protests. During his visit, he assured them that the administration would pursue the matter seriously and that law enforcement agencies would take firm action against those responsible.

According to officials, the victim’s family agreed to receive the body only after obtaining written assurances from Maharashtra Minister Pankaj Bhoyar. The letter reportedly confirmed the formation of the Special Investigation Team and stated that the government would seek a speedy hearing of the case through a fast-track court.

Political Leaders Demand Swift Justice

Political leaders across the region also reacted strongly to the incident. BJP MLA Rajesh Bakane described the crime as deeply disturbing and said it was difficult to express the magnitude of the tragedy. He stated that no family, whether in Maharashtra or anywhere else, should ever have to experience such a loss.

Bakane further said he had written to State Home Minister Pankaj Bhoyar requesting an SIT investigation and urging that the matter be tried before a fast-track court. He also expressed support for the strongest legal punishment if the accused is found guilty under the law.

Focus on Legal Proceedings

The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to gather evidence and await medical and forensic findings. Authorities have indicated that every aspect of the case will be examined carefully through the SIT investigation. Officials have reiterated that further action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the inquiry and in accordance with legal procedures.
