TempleTrust – Ram Temple Trust Says CEO Will Function Without Government Intervention

TempleTrust –Ram Temple governance and donation transparency updates – The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has reiterated that its administrative decisions will remain independent, even as political parties continue to demand greater accountability over the alleged irregularities linked to temple donations.

Ram temple ceo no government interference

The Ram Temple Construction Committee has clarified that the functioning of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and its proposed Chief Executive Officer will remain free from government control. Committee Chairman Nripendra Mishra made the statement on Sunday while responding to growing political scrutiny over allegations of irregularities in the counting of temple donations. His remarks came as opposition parties intensified their demand for greater transparency and accountability in the matter.

Trust Outlines Role of Proposed Chief Executive Officer

Speaking to reporters in Ayodhya, Mishra said the trust itself would determine the authority, responsibilities and operational framework of the temple’s first CEO. According to him, the officer will supervise financial management and administrative affairs while functioning under the trust’s direction rather than that of any government authority.

He further stated that the CEO would effectively assist the trust in carrying out its responsibilities independently. Mishra also confirmed that a three-member committee has been formed to identify and recommend suitable candidates for the position.

Political Campaigns Gather Momentum

The controversy has triggered coordinated political campaigns by several opposition parties. After the Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT), the Aam Aadmi Party has also stepped up its campaign, alleging financial irregularities in the handling of temple donations.

AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal launched a nationwide public outreach programme beginning with a Sundarkand recitation in Delhi’s Rohini area. During the event, he appealed to citizens to sign a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking strict legal action against those found responsible. Kejriwal alleged that influential individuals were being protected from accountability and asserted that his party would continue its campaign until the guilty were punished under the law.

BJP Responds, RSS Supports Ongoing Investigation

The Bharatiya Janata Party dismissed Kejriwal’s campaign, accusing him of invoking religious issues primarily during election periods. The party described him as a “chunavi Hindu” and rejected the opposition’s allegations.

Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh expressed concern over the reported irregularities related to donation counting but voiced confidence in the ongoing investigation by the Special Investigation Team and the police. The issue was also discussed during a meeting of RSS office-bearers in Belagavi, Karnataka.

In its statement, the RSS urged the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust to strengthen safeguards so that no future incident undermines the faith and devotion of millions of devotees visiting the temple.

Opposition Demands Independent Probe

Opposition parties have continued to question the ongoing police and SIT investigations, alleging that influential individuals are being shielded. They have indicated that the issue will be raised during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament and that they intend to seek answers directly from the central government.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh reiterated his party’s demand for an independent investigation monitored by the Supreme Court. He also called for a forensic audit, complete transparency and strict action against anyone found guilty.

Ramesh accused the government of failing to respond adequately to the controversy and questioned why no decisive action had been taken. He said the Congress had already organised dozens of press conferences across the country to highlight the issue and would continue pressing for accountability.

Administrative Changes Introduced by the Trust

Amid the ongoing controversy, the temple trust recently announced an administrative restructuring that includes the creation of the Chief Executive Officer’s post. The move is intended to strengthen institutional management and improve oversight of financial and operational matters.

Earlier this month, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray also launched a public campaign focusing on the alleged donation irregularities. With multiple political parties continuing to raise questions and investigative agencies carrying forward their inquiries, the issue is expected to remain a significant subject of public and political debate in the weeks ahead.
