Ahmedabad Blasts – Gujarat High Court Set to Deliver Verdict Tuesday
Ahmedabad Blasts – The Gujarat High Court is scheduled to pronounce its decision on Tuesday in the 2008 Ahmedabad serial bomb blast case, one of the most serious terror-related incidents in the city’s history. The court is expected to deliver its verdict at 11 am.

Coordinated explosions struck Ahmedabad in July 2008
A total of 21 explosions were reported at 20 locations across Ahmedabad on July 26, 2008. The blasts took place over roughly 70 minutes, creating widespread panic and disrupting normal life across several parts of the city.
According to the case record, 56 people were killed in the coordinated attacks, while more than 200 others suffered injuries. The explosions targeted multiple public locations and prompted a large-scale investigation by security agencies.
The terrorist group Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami, also known as HuJI, had claimed responsibility for the Ahmedabad attacks. The case has remained under close legal scrutiny because of the scale of the violence and the number of victims affected.
Court proceedings remain significant for victims’ families
The High Court’s ruling is expected to be closely followed by families of those killed and injured in the blasts, as well as by law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation and prosecution.
The case has moved through several stages over the years, involving extensive evidence, witness accounts and legal arguments. Tuesday’s verdict will mark an important development in proceedings connected to the 2008 attacks.
NIA submits forensic report in Red Fort blast matter
Separately, the National Investigation Agency has filed a forensic report before a court in connection with the November 2025 Red Fort car bomb blast case in Delhi. The report concerns the identification and examination of body parts recovered after the explosion.
The court has listed the matter for scrutiny of the forensic findings. Investigators have described the incident as a high-intensity Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device explosion.
According to the NIA, 11 people were killed in the blast and several others were injured. The explosion also caused substantial damage to nearby property in the area.
Judicial custody extended for nine accused
The NIA produced nine accused before Special Judge Pitambar Dutt, who extended their judicial custody until the next hearing. The court has fixed July 13 as the next date for proceedings.
The agency has filed a charge sheet against 10 accused, including Shaheen Saeed and others. A supplementary charge sheet involving Zamir Ahmed Ahangar and Tufail Ahmed Bhat is also pending consideration before the NIA court at Patiala House.
The supplementary charge sheet also refers to an absconding accused in the Delhi blast case. Zamir Ahmed Ahangar and Tufail Ahmed Bhat were arrested in February 2026, while the agency had previously filed its main charge sheet in the matter.
Allegations related to arms and ammunition collection
Investigators have alleged that Zamir and Tufail were involved in collecting arms and ammunition. The NIA has stated that Zamir received a rifle, a pistol and live ammunition from individuals identified as Umar, Irfan and Adil.
The agency has alleged that the accused were linked to Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. The matter remains before the court, and the allegations are subject to judicial examination as the proceedings continue.
