Accident – A coordinated search operation is continuing after emergency teams launched efforts to locate a man who reportedly entered the Yamuna River from the DND Flyway in the national capital. Authorities have deployed multiple rescue units, while officials continue to monitor the situation.

Rescue Teams Continue Intensive Search
Emergency personnel resumed search operations on Monday morning after a man was reported missing in the Yamuna River following an incident near the DND Flyway in Delhi on Sunday afternoon. Officials said the rescue mission began shortly after the authorities received information about the incident and has continued without interruption.
According to the Delhi Fire Service, an emergency call informed officials that a man had allegedly jumped into the river after arriving at the flyway on a scooter. Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the location, where they began a coordinated search of the surrounding river stretch.
Personal Belongings Recovered at the Spot
Authorities identified the missing individual as Ankit Sharma, a resident of Preet Vihar in East Delhi. Officials said Sharma was involved in the business of buying and selling vehicles.
During the initial inspection of the area, rescue personnel recovered his scooter, mobile phone, and clothes near the location from where he is believed to have entered the river. These belongings have been secured as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Multiple Agencies Join Rescue Efforts
The search operation is being carried out jointly by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Delhi Fire Service. Teams equipped with specialized rescue equipment have been working continuously to locate the missing man.
Deep-water divers have been deployed to examine sections of the river that are difficult to access, while rescue boats continue scanning the water surface and nearby areas. Officials said every available resource has been mobilized to improve the chances of locating the missing individual.
Officials Explain Timeline of the Operation
NDRF official Praful Kumar said the rescue teams responded as soon as they received information from the control room. According to him, local police reported that the incident took place at around 2:30 pm on Sunday, while the NDRF received the alert at approximately 3:25 pm.
He stated that the battalion, stationed in Dwarka, left immediately after receiving the message and reached the DND Flyway area at around 4 pm. Since arriving at the site, rescue personnel have remained engaged in continuous search efforts.
Kumar also confirmed that experienced deep divers and at least one rescue boat have been deployed throughout the operation, with teams systematically covering different sections of the river.
Family Members Remain at the Location
Family members of Ankit Sharma have been present near the search site as rescue operations continue. However, they have not made any public statements or spoken to media representatives regarding the incident.
Officials have not released additional details about the circumstances that may have led to the incident. Authorities said the focus remains on the ongoing search operation, and further information will be shared only after verified developments emerge.
As of Monday, the rescue mission was still underway, with emergency agencies continuing their coordinated efforts in the Yamuna River.
