TempleTrust – Calls Grow for Accountability Amid Ram Temple Trust Controversy

TempleTrust –  Concerns surrounding the management of donations and public trust have once again come into focus after fresh allegations linked to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust sparked political and legal debate.

Ram temple trust accountability row grows

Former Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to remove all office-bearers associated with the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust until allegations related to donations and financial management are thoroughly examined.

Demand for Resignations Amid Allegations

Speaking on the controversy, Acharya Pramod Krishnam said the Ram Temple in Ayodhya represents the faith and devotion of millions of people across the country. He stated that questions raised about certain individuals connected with the trust have deeply affected public sentiment.

According to him, those holding positions within the trust should step aside on moral grounds while the matter is investigated. He argued that maintaining public confidence in an institution of such religious significance is essential and that transparency should remain a priority throughout any inquiry process.

Faith and Public Confidence at the Centre

Krishnam emphasized that the trust is linked to the beliefs of countless devotees and therefore any allegation involving financial irregularities must be treated with seriousness. He said that whenever concerns emerge regarding the handling of public contributions, corrective measures should be considered to protect the institution’s credibility.

He further remarked that organizational changes are sometimes necessary when questions arise about accountability. Stressing the importance of preserving trust among devotees, he appealed to both the Prime Minister and the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to take decisive action regarding the trust’s administration.

Remarks on Bihar Encounter Case

Apart from the temple trust issue, Acharya Pramod Krishnam also commented on the Bharat Tiwari encounter case in Bihar. He expressed concern over what he described as a growing pattern of questionable police encounters and alleged that such incidents deserve independent scrutiny.

Krishnam claimed that some encounters are presented as legitimate operations despite concerns raised by sections of society. He maintained that any action resulting in loss of life must be subjected to a fair investigation and legal review.

At the same time, he clarified that genuine encounters carried out during lawful action against criminals should be acknowledged. However, he argued that if any individual is harmed unlawfully, it becomes a matter requiring accountability under the law.

Call for Wider Discussion

Referring to the Bharat Tiwari case, Krishnam alleged that the incident was not a genuine encounter and called for a broader public discussion on such matters. He also expressed concern about what he described as the targeting of Brahmin youths, urging authorities and society to examine the issue carefully.

He said public protests often emerge when people feel justice has not been adequately delivered and stressed the need for transparent investigations into controversial incidents.

PIL Seeks Supreme Court Intervention

Meanwhile, the debate over the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust intensified after a fresh Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed before the Supreme Court on Monday.

The petition seeks registration of a First Information Report (FIR) and requests a court-supervised investigation by a Special Investigation Team led by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The plea calls for a comprehensive and time-bound inquiry into allegations of financial irregularities, missing funds and administrative mismanagement linked to donations received for the construction and management of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Filed under Article 32 of the Constitution by advocates Ajay Kumar Rai and Dinesh Kumar Yadav, the petition argues that publicly available information and media reports indicate possible instances of fund diversion, misappropriation and breach of trust involving donations collected for religious and charitable purposes. The matter is now expected to draw significant legal and public attention as the court considers the plea.
