Conflict – Manipur Security Forces Recover Arms and Arrest Militant Operatives
Conflict – Security agencies in Manipur have stepped up coordinated operations across multiple districts, leading to the seizure of a large cache of weapons and explosives, the demolition of unlawful bunkers, and the detention of several individuals linked to banned insurgent groups. Officials said the operations were carried out in both hill and valley regions as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen internal security and curb criminal activity.

Weapons and Explosives Recovered in Churachandpur
A major search operation was conducted on Tuesday in the forested region near Hengkot village under the jurisdiction of Churachandpur Police Station. During the raid, security personnel recovered a wide range of firearms, including an MK-II rifle, an AK-47, a .303 rifle, multiple 12-bore weapons, and several locally manufactured firearms.
Authorities also seized ammunition and explosive materials from the site. The recovered items included live cartridges, empty shells, and five improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Officials stated that the operation was based on intelligence inputs related to the movement of armed groups in the area.
Apart from weapons, the forces found communication devices and military-style equipment, including wireless sets, ammunition pouches, camouflage boots, and protective gear believed to have been used by underground operatives.
Illegal Bunkers Destroyed in Ukhrul District
In a separate operation carried out under Litan Police Station in Ukhrul district, security personnel dismantled three illegal bunkers located in Patleijang village and Roudei village. The bunkers were allegedly being used for unlawful activities and strategic movement by armed elements.
During the operation, officials recovered additional explosive material, including a 5-kg IED. Two pompi guns, radio communication devices, live cartridges, and empty shell casings of different calibres were also found at the locations.
Security authorities said such operations are being intensified to prevent the regrouping of militant organisations and to maintain stability in sensitive areas.
Arrests Linked to Banned Organisations
Alongside the recovery drives, intelligence-led actions resulted in the arrest of several suspected members of outlawed groups allegedly involved in extortion and other illegal activities.
On Sunday, two individuals connected to underground outfits were detained near Forest Gate at Mayai Keithel under Nongpok Sekmai Police Station. Among them was a 21-year-old alleged member associated with the Revolutionary People’s Front and its armed wing, the People’s Liberation Army. A minor linked to another militant organisation was also apprehended during the same operation.
The following day, another suspected PLA operative was arrested from the Nongada Kameng area under Lamlai Police Station. Security forces also detained a senior functionary believed to be associated with the RPF/PLA from the Irilbung region. Officials confirmed that a mobile phone and identity documents were seized during the arrest.
In another operation, a member linked to the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak was apprehended from the Kakwa Lilando Lampak area under Singjamei Police Station. Authorities recovered a scooter, a mobile device, and identification documents from his possession.
Security Measures Continue Across State
Officials stated that the overall law-and-order situation in Manipur remained under control over the past 24 hours. Security arrangements were strengthened along National Highway-37 to ensure the safe passage of vehicles transporting essential commodities.
According to police officials, hundreds of vehicles moved through the highway corridor under strict monitoring and convoy protection in vulnerable stretches. To improve surveillance and prevent illegal movement, 114 checkpoints have been installed across various hill and valley districts.
Police Warn Against Rumours and Fake Social Media Posts
The Manipur Police have urged residents not to rely on unverified videos, messages, or audio recordings circulating on social media platforms. Citizens have been advised to confirm the authenticity of such content through the Central Control Room before sharing it further.
Authorities also warned that strict legal action would be taken against individuals found spreading misinformation online. Officials appealed to the public to voluntarily surrender any looted weapons, explosives, or ammunition at nearby police stations or security camps to support ongoing peace and security efforts in the state.
