Healthcare – Delhi Government Hospitals Earn National Quality Certification Recognition
Healthcare – Two major government-run medical institutions in Delhi have received national recognition for maintaining high standards in patient care and hospital services. Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital and Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Hospital have been awarded the “Quality Certified” status under the National Quality Assurance Standards program introduced by the Government of India.

According to an official statement issued by authorities, both hospitals performed exceptionally well during the nationwide quality evaluation process. LNJP Hospital recorded a score of 95.89 percent, while Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Hospital achieved an even higher score of 96.72 percent.
Recognition Based on Multiple Healthcare Services
The certification was granted after a detailed assessment of various departments and medical facilities operating within the hospitals. The review covered outpatient services, intensive care units, blood bank management, labour rooms, radiology departments, pathology laboratories, emergency treatment systems, maternal healthcare services and several support divisions linked to patient care.
Officials stated that the achievement reflects ongoing efforts to improve the functioning of public hospitals and strengthen confidence among patients who depend on government healthcare facilities in the national capital.
Delhi Government Highlights Healthcare Improvements
Delhi Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh described the certification as an important development for the city’s healthcare network. He said the government is focused on practical improvements rather than making empty commitments.
The minister also noted that Delhi’s public healthcare sector had faced several challenges over the years because of limited planning, weak accountability and delays in reforms. He added that the current administration is working to improve hospital conditions and expand access to modern medical services.
Focus on Cleanliness and Better Infrastructure
Dr Singh said special attention is being given to hygiene and sanitation standards under the “Kayakalp” initiative across all Delhi government hospitals. The programme aims to improve cleanliness, waste management and overall patient-friendly environments within medical institutions.
He further announced that the government plans to install 14 MRI machines and over 25 ultrasound machines in different hospitals across the city. The move is expected to improve diagnostic services and reduce waiting periods for patients seeking advanced medical tests.
According to officials, these upgrades are part of a broader strategy to modernise public healthcare facilities and ensure that patients receive timely treatment without unnecessary inconvenience.
Push Towards Higher Healthcare Standards
The Delhi government stated that hospitals in the capital are gradually moving closer to internationally accepted healthcare benchmarks. Efforts are being made to improve medical infrastructure, maintain better sanitation standards and provide easier access to diagnostic facilities for citizens.
Authorities believe that receiving the NQAS certification demonstrates the administration’s commitment to building a healthcare system that remains accessible, transparent and patient-focused. The recognition is also expected to encourage other government hospitals to improve service quality and operational efficiency.
Officials added that quality healthcare remains a key priority for the administration, with the objective of ensuring that every resident receives treatment with dignity, trust and proper medical support.
The certification further strengthens the government’s long-term vision of creating a healthier and more efficient public healthcare system for the people of Delhi.
