Politics –  Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed 12 years in office on Monday, drawing praise from senior leaders across the country who highlighted the government’s achievements in governance, welfare, infrastructure, and national security during the period.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described May 26, 2014, as a turning point in India’s political and developmental history, saying the day marked the beginning of a new phase of governance under Narendra Modi’s leadership. Modi first assumed office as Prime Minister in 2014 and later secured consecutive terms after the 2019 and 2024 general elections.

Rajnath Singh Highlights Governance Transformation

In a message shared on social media platform X, Singh said the country witnessed a major shift in leadership style, policy direction, and administrative functioning after Modi took charge as Prime Minister.

According to Singh, the last 12 years have seen rapid progress across several sectors, including economic growth, welfare programmes, infrastructure expansion, and digital development. He also pointed to initiatives promoting self-reliance under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign and efforts to strengthen India’s position globally.

The Defence Minister said India’s development has become more inclusive over time, with welfare measures reaching wider sections of society. He noted that millions of people who had previously remained outside the mainstream development process were now actively participating in the country’s growth.

Focus on Welfare and Inclusive Development

Singh also referred to the government’s slogan of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas,” stating that the principle had shaped policy decisions and governance priorities during the Modi administration.

He added that India today stands with greater confidence on the global stage and has strengthened its internal systems through reforms in governance and national security. Singh further praised Modi’s dedication to public service, describing him as a leader deeply committed to the welfare of the country and its people.

The Defence Minister said Modi’s consistent focus on national development and public welfare had inspired millions across the nation. He also wished the Prime Minister good health and continued service to the country in the years ahead.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Praises Leadership

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also congratulated Prime Minister Modi on completing 12 years in office. In his statement, Dhami called May 26, 2014, a historic moment that initiated a new era of governance and development in India.

Dhami said the government had focused on service, transparent administration, and welfare-driven policies over the past decade. He stated that India had strengthened its international image while also ensuring that government schemes reached people at the grassroots level.

Key Schemes and Infrastructure Expansion Mentioned

Highlighting several flagship programmes launched during the Modi government’s tenure, Dhami referred to housing projects for the poor, the Jal Jeevan Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Digital India, and initiatives supporting women’s empowerment and self-reliance.

He also pointed to major infrastructure growth, including improvements in road, rail, and air connectivity across the country. According to Dhami, these initiatives have helped reshape India’s development model while creating new opportunities for young people.

The Uttarakhand Chief Minister further said that bold policy decisions, transparent governance practices, and a focus on national interest had become defining features of the Modi government over the last 12 years. He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for his leadership and contribution to public welfare and governance reforms.
