FWICE stated that three reminders had reportedly been sent to the actor before the decision was taken. The issue traces back to a complaint submitted by filmmaker Farhan Akhtar earlier this year concerning developments surrounding Don 3.

As per details shared by the federation, Farhan Akhtar had approached the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) on April 11, 2026. The matter was later forwarded to FWICE for further review and action.
During meetings conducted by the federation, Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani reportedly informed members that nearly Rs. 45 crore had already been spent on the film’s pre-production process. The producers expressed concern that a sudden withdrawal by the lead actor at an advanced stage of planning could create major financial and production-related challenges for the project.
Don 3 was officially announced by Excel Entertainment in August 2023, with Ranveer Singh introduced as the new face of the franchise through a teaser release that generated significant attention across the entertainment industry.

Soon after FWICE’s directive became public, Ranveer Singh’s spokesperson released an official statement addressing the matter. The statement emphasised that the actor continues to hold deep respect for the film fraternity and everyone associated with the Don franchise.
