SikhLeadership – The Sikh community received global recognition during the annual Vaisakhi Gala Dinner organized by Sikhs of America in the United States, where lawmakers, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, and public figures from the US, Britain, and Pakistan were honored for their contributions to society and public welfare.

Sikh Leaders Recognised at Annual Gala
The event brought together prominent members of the Sikh diaspora to celebrate achievements in public service, humanitarian outreach, and community leadership. Organizers said the awards were aimed at highlighting the growing role of Sikhs in mainstream political, social, and business sectors across different countries.
Among those honored were Virginia Delegate JJ Singh, businessman Baldev Singh Kang, philanthropist Sardar Bahadur Singh, Pakistan Punjab Minister Ramesh Singh Arora, and British Member of Parliament Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi.
JJ Singh Highlights Sikh Values in Public Service
JJ Singh received recognition for making history as the first turbaned Sikh elected to a state legislature in the United States. During his address, Singh reflected on the values that shaped his political journey and campaign.
He said dedication, service to others and commitment to larger social goals were principles that guided his work. Singh also noted that Sikh teachings align closely with values widely respected in American society, particularly equality, responsibility, and community service.
The Virginia lawmaker further spoke about several legislative measures he supported, including proposals aimed at improving security at places of worship, lowering college education expenses, and addressing gun violence prevention.
Recognition for Efforts Supporting Sikh Heritage
Ramesh Singh Arora was honored for his initiatives connected to preserving Sikh religious heritage in Pakistan and improving facilities for Sikh pilgrims visiting historic sites.
During his remarks, Arora referred to the Kartarpur Corridor project and ongoing measures designed to provide better access to important gurdwaras located in Pakistan. He also spoke about efforts to strengthen cultural and religious connections for Sikh visitors traveling from abroad.
Business and Humanitarian Contributions Acknowledged
Industrialist Baldev Singh Kang received recognition for his achievements in business and industry. Event organizers highlighted his involvement in the trucking and steel sectors along with expanding commercial interests in countries including India, Armenia, Dubai, and the United States.
Meanwhile, Sardar Bahadur Singh was honored for his humanitarian work, particularly in the areas of healthcare and education. Organizers said he has supported programs that provide free medical assistance and educational opportunities for underprivileged families.
The awards ceremony also recognised British Sikh MP Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi for his efforts in representing minority communities in the UK Parliament and promoting diversity and democratic participation.
Organisers Stress Importance of Sikh Representation
Speaking during the program, Sikhs of America leader Jasdip Singh Jassi said the initiative was created to bring attention to Sikh achievements and contributions within broader American society.
He emphasized the importance of passing Sikh values and traditions to younger generations while encouraging unity and community service. According to organizers, the annual gala has become an important platform for recognizing individuals who have contributed positively to society while strengthening Sikh representation internationally.
The event concluded with calls for continued community engagement, cultural preservation, and greater participation of Sikh professionals and leaders in public life across the world.
