DelhiPolitics – AAP Raises Questions After Protest at Lieutenant Governor’s Office
DelhiPolitics – Fresh tensions emerged between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Lieutenant Governor’s office on Wednesday after several party leaders staged a protest outside Raj Bhavan over the alleged rape of a three-year-old girl at a private school in Janakpuri. The demonstration also focused on claims that police personnel intimidated the victim’s parents during the course of the investigation.

Protest Held Over School Assault Case
The protest was led by Delhi AAP chief Saurabh Bharadwaj along with women councillors from the party. The delegation arrived at Raj Bhavan demanding an urgent meeting with Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena regarding the handling of the sensitive case.
According to party representatives, the councillors waited for a considerable period outside the office before a few members of the delegation were reportedly invited inside the premises. AAP leaders later alleged that despite being called in, no official interaction ultimately took place.
AAP Alleges Delay in Official Meeting
The party stated that former Delhi mayor Shelly Oberoi and three women councillors entered the Lieutenant Governor’s office expecting discussions over the incident and related allegations against police officials. However, the delegation claimed they were later informed that details regarding any formal appointment would instead be shared through email communication at a later stage.
AAP leaders criticised the handling of the matter, arguing that the seriousness of the allegations required immediate intervention and direct engagement from senior authorities. Party members also accused the administration of avoiding accountability over public concerns connected to women’s safety and policing procedures.
Delhi Police Rejects Party’s Allegations
The Delhi Police strongly disputed the claims made by AAP leaders following the protest. In an official response, police authorities described the statements attributed to the Lieutenant Governor’s office as “incorrect and misleading.”
Officials clarified that no such assurance or communication regarding a meeting had been conveyed either by Raj Bhavan officials or by the police department. The police maintained that the information presented by the protesting leaders did not reflect the actual sequence of events.
The disagreement has further intensified the ongoing political friction between the ruling AAP leadership in Delhi and the Lieutenant Governor’s administration, particularly on issues linked to law and order in the national capital.
Details of the Janakpuri School Case
The controversy stems from a disturbing allegation involving a three-year-old girl studying at SS Mota Singh School in Janakpuri. Police said a 57-year-old staff member employed at the institution has been accused in the case.
The incident came to light on May 1 after the child’s mother approached authorities and filed a formal complaint. Following the complaint, a criminal case was registered and an investigation was initiated by the police.
The matter triggered widespread public concern because of the age of the survivor and the allegations surrounding the conduct of certain police officials during the early stages of the investigation. Political leaders and activists have since demanded strict legal action and greater sensitivity in dealing with crimes involving minors.
Political Reactions Continue
The case has now become a major political issue in Delhi, with opposition and ruling party leaders exchanging allegations over administrative accountability and public safety. Women representatives associated with AAP said they would continue raising the matter until there is clarity regarding both the investigation and the accusations made by the survivor’s family.
Authorities have not yet issued any additional public statement regarding the proposed meeting between the protesting councillors and the Lieutenant Governor’s office.
