Crime – Delhi Police Nab Gang-Linked Fugitive After Rohini Encounter
Crime – Delhi Police have apprehended a 40-year-old man believed to be associated with the Tillu Tajpuria gang following a brief gunfight in the Rohini area, according to officials familiar with the operation. The suspect was reportedly in communication with absconding gang members based overseas, using encrypted digital platforms to stay connected.

Arrest Following Targeted Operation
The accused, identified as Robin, also known by multiple aliases including Babloo, Rohit, and Ramraj, hails from Sonipat in Haryana. Police described him as a parole violator and a declared offender who had been under surveillance based on intelligence inputs. Authorities said he had a history of serious criminal convictions and was actively evading law enforcement.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Narra Chaitanya stated that officers received specific information about Robin’s movement on Tuesday. He was expected to meet associates near Barwala Chowk in Rohini’s Sector-36, allegedly to arrange a new hideout. Acting on this tip, a police team set up a coordinated trap in the area.
Exchange of Fire During Arrest
At approximately 10:25 pm, the suspect was seen approaching the location on a motorcycle. When officers attempted to intercept him and asked him to surrender, he allegedly fired at the police team. In response, officers returned fire in what they described as self-defence. Robin sustained a bullet injury during the exchange and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police confirmed that no officers were injured during the incident. The situation was brought under control quickly, and the accused was taken into custody for further investigation.
History of Serious Criminal Cases
Authorities revealed that Robin has a long criminal record. In 2008, he was convicted for the murder of a man named Munna Singh following a personal dispute. He received a life sentence in that case. However, during a period of parole in April 2015, he allegedly absconded and committed another murder.
According to police records, he, along with an accomplice, abducted a key witness—who was also his girlfriend’s brother—at gunpoint and later killed him. This case also resulted in a life imprisonment sentence. Additionally, Robin had previously been sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment under the Explosive Substances Act for possession of a hand grenade.
Links With Organized Crime Networks
During preliminary questioning, Robin reportedly admitted to establishing connections with gang members while incarcerated. Investigators believe these connections later extended to individuals operating from outside India. Police said he maintained contact with these handlers using encrypted communication tools, which made tracking his activities more challenging.
Officials suspect that he was involved in arranging weapons and planning attacks against rival gang members. His arrest is being viewed as a significant development in ongoing efforts to curb organized crime networks linked to gangs operating both domestically and internationally.
Investigation Continues
Law enforcement agencies are now working to identify Robin’s associates and trace the network he was part of. Authorities are also examining digital evidence to uncover the extent of his communication with foreign-based operatives. Further arrests may follow as the investigation progresses.
Police officials reiterated their commitment to tackling organized crime and ensuring public safety. They also urged citizens to report any suspicious activities that may assist in preventing similar incidents in the future.
