Security – Fresh bomb threat email triggers high alert at Bihar Assembly
Security – A fresh security scare unfolded in Bihar on Friday after officials of the state Legislative Assembly received an email warning of a possible bomb attack. The message prompted an immediate and coordinated response from law enforcement agencies, who moved quickly to secure the premises and ensure public safety.

Swift Response by Police and Security Agencies
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sachivalaya) Anu Kumari, authorities were alerted as soon as the threatening email reached Assembly officials. Security teams were deployed without delay, and a detailed search operation was initiated across the entire Assembly complex.
Entry for visitors was temporarily halted as a precautionary measure, while trained dog squads were brought in to assist with the inspection. Officials confirmed that, despite the seriousness of the threat, no suspicious objects or explosives had been discovered during the search.
Heightened Vigil and Additional Deployment
Senior police officers remained actively involved throughout the operation. Additional forces were stationed around the Assembly building to strengthen security and maintain order. Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikey Sharma reviewed the situation and issued necessary directions to officers on the ground to ensure that all protocols were followed carefully.
Authorities maintained a cautious stance, continuing surveillance even after the initial search yielded no results. Officials emphasized that standard operating procedures are strictly implemented in such situations to prevent any risk.
Details of the Threat Message
The email reportedly warned of an explosion targeting the Assembly building at approximately 2:15 pm on Friday. The timing mentioned in the message added urgency to the response, prompting security teams to intensify their checks during that period.
While investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the email, preliminary indications suggest it may follow a pattern similar to earlier threats received in recent months.
Previous Incidents Raise Concerns
This is not the first instance of such a warning. On March 13, Assembly authorities had received a similar threat, which was later determined to be a hoax after thorough verification. That earlier message had arrived just days before the Rajya Sabha elections scheduled for March 16, raising concerns about potential attempts to disrupt administrative processes.
Officials noted that repeated threats, even when found to be false, require full-scale responses due to the sensitive nature of government institutions.
Separate Threat Disrupts Court Proceedings
In a related development, a court in Siwan district also received a bomb threat around the same time. The warning led to an immediate suspension of court proceedings as security teams conducted a comprehensive search of the premises.
As with the Assembly incident, no suspicious materials were found during the operation. However, the disruption highlighted the broader pattern of such threats targeting public institutions in the state.
Authorities Remain on High Alert
Bihar Director General of Police Vinay Kumar stated that law enforcement agencies remain vigilant and treat every threat with seriousness, regardless of past outcomes. He stressed that standard safety procedures are followed meticulously to ensure there is no compromise on security.
Officials are continuing their investigation into both incidents, focusing on identifying the source of the emails and determining whether there is any coordinated intent behind them.
Despite the repeated hoax alerts, authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining strict security measures across government buildings and judicial institutions, ensuring preparedness against any potential risk.
