Politics – BJP Announces Fresh Leadership Changes Across Four Key States
Politics – The Bharatiya Janata Party introduced a major organisational reshuffle on Thursday, appointing Union minister Harsh Malhotra as the new chief of its Delhi unit. He takes over the responsibility from Virendra Sachdeva as the party moves to strengthen its leadership structure in multiple states ahead of upcoming political activities.

Leadership Change in Delhi BJP
The announcement was made by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, who confirmed that the party had approved a series of new appointments for several state units. Harsh Malhotra’s elevation to the top organisational role in Delhi is being viewed as part of the BJP’s broader effort to reinforce its leadership network in the national capital.
Malhotra, who currently serves as a Union minister, has remained active in Delhi politics for several years and is considered a senior face within the party organisation. His appointment comes at a time when the BJP is preparing for future electoral campaigns and internal restructuring in important regions.
New State Presidents Named
Along with the Delhi appointment, the BJP also announced changes in Haryana, Punjab and Tripura. Archana Gupta was selected as the new president of the party’s Haryana unit, becoming one of the prominent women leaders to receive a major organisational responsibility within the state.
In Punjab, senior leader Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon was appointed as the new BJP state chief. His appointment is expected to play an important role in strengthening the party’s outreach in Punjab, where the BJP has been working to expand its political presence in recent years.
Meanwhile, in Tripura, BJP MLA Abhishek Debroy was chosen to lead the party’s state organisation. The leadership change in Tripura is seen as part of the BJP’s strategy to maintain its organisational momentum in the northeastern region.
Appointments Effective Immediately
BJP national general secretary Arun Singh issued separate official notifications confirming all four appointments. According to the party, the decisions have come into effect immediately.
The BJP leadership has been carrying out organisational adjustments across several states as part of its long-term political planning. Party leaders believe such changes help improve coordination between the central leadership and state units while also preparing regional organisations for future elections and governance responsibilities.
Focus on Organisational Strengthening
Political observers say the latest reshuffle reflects the BJP’s continued emphasis on strengthening its internal structure at both national and state levels. The party has regularly introduced leadership changes to bring fresh energy into state units and improve grassroots coordination.
The appointments of leaders in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Tripura are expected to influence the BJP’s organisational direction in these regions over the coming months. With several political developments expected across states, the party appears focused on consolidating its leadership teams and expanding its reach among voters.
The latest decisions also highlight the BJP’s strategy of assigning experienced leaders to important organisational posts while balancing regional representation across states.
