Election – Prime Minister and Home Minister Intensify Bengal Campaign Trail
Election – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to intensify his campaign efforts in West Bengal as the state moves closer to its two-phase Assembly elections. On Thursday, he will address a series of public meetings across three districts, reflecting the high political stakes and competitive atmosphere in the region.

Prime Minister’s Multi-District Campaign Push
The Prime Minister’s schedule begins with a rally in Haldia, located in East Midnapore district, an important industrial hub. Following this, he will travel to Asansol in West Burdwan district, another key industrial town, before concluding the day with a public meeting in Suri in Birbhum district. These back-to-back rallies highlight a focused effort to reach diverse voter groups across geographically distinct areas.
The campaign pace is expected to remain intense over the following days. On Saturday, the Prime Minister is scheduled to address three more rallies in different districts—Jangipur in Murshidabad, Katwa in East Burdwan, and Balurghat in South Dinajpur. Each of these locations holds electoral significance, and the rallies are aimed at consolidating support across regions.
Amit Shah’s Entry and Planned Events
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Kolkata on Thursday night, marking the beginning of his own series of campaign engagements. While no public events are scheduled immediately upon arrival, his itinerary for the next two days is packed.
On Friday, Shah will address a major rally in Deba in West Midnapore district. Later in the day, he will participate in a roadshow in Kharagpur, a city known for its strategic and political importance. On Saturday, his campaign trail continues with rallies in Chhatna in Bankura district and Baghmundi in Purulia district, further expanding outreach in key constituencies.
Continued Campaigning Across the State
The Prime Minister’s campaign in West Bengal began earlier this month with a large rally in Cooch Behar on April 5. Since then, campaign activities have steadily gained momentum, with senior leaders making frequent visits to the state.
In addition to his rally schedule, the Prime Minister will stay overnight in Siliguri on April 11. The following day, he is expected to take part in a roadshow in the city, which serves as a crucial gateway to the northeastern region and holds strategic political importance.
Mamata Banerjee’s Parallel Campaign Efforts
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is also actively campaigning across the state. On Thursday, she is scheduled to address five rallies in quick succession across North 24 Parganas district. The locations include Minakhan, Noyapara, Panihati, Baranagar, and Rajarhat-Gopalpur.
Her packed schedule reflects a parallel effort to maintain voter engagement and reinforce her party’s presence in densely populated and politically significant areas.
Election Dates and Key Details
The West Bengal Assembly elections will be conducted in two phases. Voting for the first phase will take place on April 23, covering 152 constituencies. The second phase is scheduled for April 29, with the remaining 142 constituencies going to the polls.
