Accident – Nine Family Members Killed After Car Falls Into Well in Nashik
Accident – A devastating incident in Maharashtra’s Nashik district has left an entire community in shock after nine members of a single family lost their lives when their vehicle plunged into a roadside well. The accident occurred in the Shivajinagar area of Dindori taluka, turning what was meant to be a routine journey home into a tragic loss.
Family Returning From Event Meets With Tragedy
According to initial information, the Dargode family had travelled from Indore village in Dindori taluka to attend a gathering organized by Vadje Classes. The event took place at Raje Banquet Hall in Shivajinagar. After the program concluded, the family began their return journey late Friday evening in a Maruti XL vehicle.
During the drive back, the driver reportedly lost control of the car. The vehicle veered off the road and fell directly into a nearby well filled with water. The suddenness of the घटना left little time for any escape, leading to a catastrophic outcome.
Immediate Response and Rescue Efforts
Local residents quickly gathered at the scene after the accident, alerting authorities. Senior officials, including Tehsildar Mukesh Kamble, Police Inspector Bhagwan Mathure, and Chief Officer Sandeep Chaudhary, reached the location along with police personnel, firefighters, and disaster response teams.
Rescue operations proved extremely challenging due to the depth of the well and the presence of water. Specialized equipment and two cranes were brought in to retrieve the submerged vehicle. After hours of effort, the car was finally pulled out around midnight.
Recovery of Victims From the Well
Rescue teams recovered eight bodies from inside the vehicle. However, one young girl was initially missing, prompting an extended search operation. Teams continued combing the well and surrounding area until her body was eventually located, bringing the total number of fatalities to nine.
The tragedy has deeply affected the local community, with many residents expressing grief over the loss of multiple members from a single family.
Victims Identified
Authorities later confirmed the identities of those who lost their lives in the accident. The deceased include Sunil Dattatray Dargode (32), Reshma Sunil Dargode (27), Rakhi alias Gunwanti (10), Madhuri Anil Dargode (13), Shravani Anil Dargode (11), Asha Anil Dargode (32), Shreyash Anil Dargode (11), Srishti Anil Dargode (14), and Samruddhi Rajesh Dargode (7).
The presence of several children among the victims has further intensified the sorrow surrounding the incident.
Investigation Underway
An NDRF team also joined the operation to assist local authorities in managing the situation. The Dindori Police have registered a case and initiated a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Preliminary findings suggest that loss of vehicle control may have led to the crash, but officials are examining all possible factors, including road conditions and visibility at the time of the incident.

The incident has cast a shadow over Dindori taluka, with residents mourning the sudden and tragic loss. Local authorities have assured that all necessary steps will be taken to prevent such accidents in the future, including reviewing roadside safety measures.
