Crowds Mark End of Holy Month

The sighting of the Shawwal crescent officially signaled the conclusion of Ramzan, drawing thousands to the mosque and nearby streets in Old Delhi. The area witnessed a sea of devotees arriving early to participate in the prayers, reflecting the importance of the occasion in the Islamic calendar.

The festive mood was visible not only inside the mosque but also throughout the surrounding lanes, where people gathered in large numbers to embrace the spirit of Eid after a month of fasting and devotion.

Markets Witness Heavy Rush Ahead of Eid

On the eve of the festival, markets around Jama Masjid experienced a surge in activity as people made last-minute purchases. Shops selling clothes, sweets, and traditional food items remained crowded, with buyers preparing for the celebrations.

Vendors reported brisk business, as families looked to complete their Eid shopping, contributing to the vibrant and bustling environment in the area.

Security Tightened Across Key Locations

Authorities implemented heightened security measures in and around Jama Masjid to ensure smooth and safe celebrations. Police personnel were deployed in significant numbers, keeping a close watch on the movement of crowds.

Additional security arrangements were also put in place near the Uttam Nagar East metro station following concerns over potential disturbances. These steps were taken after directions from the Delhi High Court, which asked for adequate precautions to maintain order during the festive period.

Court Directs Continued Vigilance

The Delhi High Court has sought a response from the police regarding security arrangements and emphasized the need to maintain vigilance not only during Eid but also until the upcoming festival of Ram Navami. The matter is scheduled for further hearing on April 6, indicating continued monitoring of the situation.

Celebrations Extend Beyond the Capital

Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations are not limited to Delhi, as communities across the country prepare to observe the festival. In Jaipur, a large number of people gathered at a mosque in Johari Bazar to offer prayers on the final Friday of Ramzan, highlighting the widespread participation in religious observances.

The festival marks a time of joy and unity, with people coming together to celebrate after completing a month of fasting.

President Extends Greetings to Citizens

On the eve of Eid, President Droupadi Murmu conveyed her greetings to citizens across the country and abroad. In her message, she highlighted the values associated with the festival, including compassion, generosity, and harmony.

She noted that Eid-ul-Fitr serves as a reminder of the importance of self-discipline and care for the less fortunate, while also promoting peace and mutual respect among communities.

Significance of Ramzan and Eid

Ramzan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, holds deep spiritual importance for Muslims, as it is believed to be the period when the Quran was first revealed. During this time, devotees observe fasting from dawn to dusk, refraining from food and water throughout the day.

The daily routine includes early morning meals before sunrise and prayers offered five times a day. The fast is broken in the evening after sunset, marking a disciplined and reflective period for believers.

Eid-ul-Fitr celebrates the completion of this month-long fast. It is a time when families gather for special meals, exchange gifts, and extend support to those in need through acts of charity.
