Artificial Intelligence – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hailed the successful conclusion of the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, describing it as a moment that highlighted India’s growing stature in the field of artificial intelligence. He noted that delegates from across the globe acknowledged India’s technological progress and the innovative outlook of its young population.

The five-day AI Impact Summit 2026, held in the national capital from February 16 to 20, concluded with the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact. The document has been endorsed by 88 countries and several international organisations, signalling a broad alignment on how artificial intelligence should be developed and deployed responsibly.
According to an official statement, the declaration represents a significant step toward coordinated global efforts to ensure that AI supports economic development and addresses social challenges. Officials involved in drafting the document said the pillars were designed to reflect diverse global perspectives, especially from developing nations that seek both innovation and fairness in the digital era.
Launch of Collaborative Initiatives
Beyond the declaration, the summit introduced several voluntary international initiatives aimed at turning principles into practice. Among them are the Charter for the Democratic Diffusion of AI, the Global AI Impact Commons, and the Trusted AI Commons.
