Politics – Bhagwant Mann Likely to Miss Anti-Drug Rally in Moga
Politics – Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is currently under medical observation following exhaustion and fluctuating blood pressure.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is expected to skip a major anti-drug rally scheduled in Moga after being admitted to a private hospital in Mohali late Sunday. According to hospital officials, he sought medical attention after experiencing fatigue and a sudden spike in blood pressure.
Medical Evaluation and Current Condition
In an official statement, Fortis Hospital in Mohali confirmed that the Chief Minister underwent a routine health check-up on February 15, 2026. Doctors conducted detailed clinical examinations along with standard diagnostic tests. Medical authorities stated that his vital parameters remain stable and within normal range.
The statement further noted that Mann is being kept under observation due to exhaustion and is receiving supportive care. A multidisciplinary medical team continues to monitor his condition. Sources indicated that he was brought to the hospital from Dhuri town after his blood pressure rose significantly.
While no serious complications have been reported, doctors have advised rest and close monitoring to ensure a complete recovery.
Anti-Drug Campaign Rally in Moga
The rally in Moga is part of the Punjab government’s ongoing drive against substance abuse under the ‘Yuddh Nasheyan Viruddh’ campaign. The event is expected to draw senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party, including national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, along with members of the state Cabinet.
The campaign has been positioned as a major initiative by the state administration to address the drug menace and strengthen enforcement efforts across Punjab. Mann’s possible absence could mark a significant change in the rally’s proceedings, as he has been actively involved in promoting the initiative across districts.
Temple Visit Before Hospitalisation
Earlier on Sunday, Mann, accompanied by Arvind Kejriwal, visited the revered Rankeshwar Mahadev Temple and offered prayers at the historic Siddh Peeth shrine in Dhuri. The visit coincided with the festival of Mahashivratri, which is widely observed across the state.
Extending greetings on the occasion, Kejriwal described the festival as a reflection of India’s deep-rooted spiritual traditions. He expressed hope for the well-being and prosperity of citizens, invoking blessings for the people of Punjab.
Mann also reiterated his government’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the state’s spiritual and cultural heritage. He highlighted that the administration continues to mark significant occasions such as the Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Teg Bahadur and the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass with respect and devotion.
Previous Health Concerns
This is not the first time the Chief Minister has required medical supervision due to exhaustion-related issues. In September 2025, he was discharged from the same hospital after being treated for fatigue and a low heart rate. At that time, a planned visit to flood-affected regions in Punjab had to be cancelled.
In a separate instance in September 2024, hospital authorities reported that an increase in pressure in his pulmonary artery had placed strain on his heart, resulting in irregular blood pressure. Following treatment and medical advice, he had resumed official duties after recovery.
For now, officials have maintained that Mann’s condition remains stable and there is no cause for alarm. Further updates are expected once doctors complete their observation period and determine when he can resume public engagements.
