Tennessee : Fishermen are cautioned to be vigilant as heavy rain is predicted for starting on January 8

Tennessee: Following the development of a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal and the equatorial Indian Ocean, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a weather notice predicting extensive rains and high winds throughout Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal over the next several days.

Around 5:30 p.m. on January 5, a low-pressure region formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the equatorial Indian Ocean due to an atmospheric circulation that was dominant over the central Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal, according to a news release from the weather office.

On January 8, it is probably going to keep going in the same way. Lakshadweep and the nearby central and east Arabian Sea, as well as the Comorin Sea and surrounding regions, are also seeing increased atmospheric instability, which is predicted to facilitate rainfall activity.

While the interior of Tamil Nadu may have mostly dry conditions on January 7, light to moderate rain is predicted in one or two locations across coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. There may be sporadic light morning mist in the inner parts.

January 8 is predicted to see an increase in rainfall activity, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms probable in a number of spots along the Tamil Nadu coast, including Karaikal, Puducherry, and isolated areas across the interior of the state.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in one or two locations in Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Pudukkottai, and Karaikal. In isolated areas of the districts of Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Villupuram, and Chengalpattu, heavy rain is also anticipated.

Thunderstorms with light to moderate rain are expected on January 10 in a number of coastal and interior regions. While heavy rain is expected in Puducherry, Chennai, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Ranipet, and Kancheepuram, very heavy rain may occur in isolated areas in Cuddalore, Villupuram, and Chengalpattu.

Although isolated heavy rain may still occur in certain areas of the north coastline and adjacent interior districts, rainfall is predicted to progressively diminish on January 11 and 12.

On January 7, there is a risk of mild morning mist and partly overcast skies in Chennai. Minimum temperatures are predicted to be between 23 and 24 degrees Celsius, with maximum temperatures perhaps hovering around 29 degrees. Between January 7 and 10, strong surface winds with gusts of up to 60 kmph are expected along the coast of Tamil Nadu, the Gulf of Mannar, the Comorin Sea, and portions of the Bay of Bengal.

It has been recommended that fishermen refrain from going out to sea at this time.
