US : San Francisco International Airport, hundreds of flights were canceled or delayed
US: Strong winds and the temporary shutdown of Terminal 1’s departures lobby caused hundreds of flights at US San Francisco International Airport to be canceled or delayed.

The Xinhua news agency said 26 flights were canceled and 432 planes, mostly arrivals, were delayed on Friday, according to the aircraft monitoring website FlightAware.
The weather and strong winds were causing an average delay of one hour and forty-four minutes for incoming planes, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Separately, owing to what airport authorities called “police activity,” Terminal 1’s departures lobby was closed for about an hour on Friday morning. It reopened at around 10:45 a.m. local time.
Following the discovery of a “suspicious package” by San Francisco police, Terminal 1 was evacuated at around 8 a.m. local time, according to local media. There was no more information given.
“Give yourself more time to get to the airport and think about dropping off at the International Terminal and taking AirTrain because there is still a lot of traffic on the roads,” the airport said.
When departing from Terminal 1, travelers without checked bags may be dropped off at other terminals and utilize less crowded security checkpoints, which have walkways leading to all gates.
