UP: Lookout notice against ‘kingpin’ Shubham Jaiswal in the cough syrup scam reward increased to Rs 50,000

UP: A significant codeine-based cough syrup trafficking network that operated across states and even outside of India has been targeted by the Varanasi police. To stop the suspects from fleeing the nation, authorities have issued lookout notices and declared a $1,000 reward for the primary accused. The reward for suspected gang boss Shubham Jaiswal has been raised by the police to Rs 50,000. A reward of Rs 25,000 had already been declared for him. He is charged with overseeing a substantial illicit network engaged in the trafficking of cough syrup containing codeine.

Notices of lookout were issued against five defendants.
The Bureau of Immigration has issued lookout notices against Shubham Jaiswal and four of his fugitive companions based on the Varanasi Police Commissionerate’s advice. These notifications will guarantee that their movements are closely watched at all seaports and international airports around the nation.

According to the lookout notifications, the accused are:

Shubham Jaiswal
Divesh Jaiswal
Akash Pathak
Amit Jaiswal
They’re all on the run right now.

According to investigations, the defendants created fictitious pharmaceutical firms under false pretenses in order to purchase copious amounts of cough syrup. After then, these shipments were unlawfully delivered to other places. Strong evidence, according to police authorities, demonstrates how these fictitious companies are abused to conceal the illicit commerce and financial activities connected to the scam.

Bangladesh-related trafficking network
Additionally, authorities have discovered concrete evidence that the cough medication was transported into Bangladesh as well as throughout Indian states. According to reports, the network used a well-organized chain to manage distribution, transportation, and procurement.

A separate lookout notice has been issued by Sonbhadra police against Bhadohi district resident Nishant Kumar Gupta, also referred to as Ravi Gupta, in a connected incident. His involvement is being investigated as part of the same trafficking investigation, according to officials. Lookout warnings were already in effect against Saharanpur resident Vishal Upadhyay and Shubham Jaiswal, according to police confirmation.
