Jackie Shroff : On Mohammed Rafi’s 101st birthday, honors him
Jackie Shroff : honored the legendary singer Mohammed Rafi on Wednesday, the 101st anniversary of his birth.
Jackie posted a monochromatic image of Rafi, who was renowned for his dexterity and variety of voice, on his X, previously known as Twitter. The song “Aise To Na Dekho” from the 1965 movie Teen Devian was added by Jackie. The song was filmed with Dev Anand and Nanda.
He captioned it, “Remembering Mohd. Rafi ji on his birth anniversary #MohdRafi.”
Rafi’s songs ranged from quick, upbeat tunes to patriotic tunes, melancholic tunes to very romantic ones, qawwalis to ghazals and bhajans to classical tunes. His ability to adapt his voice to the character and mannerisms of the actor lip-syncing the song in the film was well-known.
Though mostly in Urdu and Punjabi, Rafi produced songs for more than a thousand Hindi movies in a variety of Indian and other languages.
Up to 7,000 songs in Konkani, Assamese, Bhojpuri, Odia, Bengali, Marathi, Sindhi, Kannada, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Magahi, and Maithili were recorded by him. English, Persian, Arabic, Sinhala, Mauritian Creole, and Dutch are among the international languages he sung in.
Chaudhvin Ka Chand Ho, Baharon Phool Barsao, Likhe Jo Khat Tujhe, Teri Aankhon Ke Siva, Yeh Reshmi Zulfein, Pukarta Chala Hoon Main, Kya Hua Tera Wada, Aaj Mausam Bada Beimaan Hai, Khoya Khoya Chand, and Gulabi Aankhen are a few of his well-known songs.
Rafi passed away in 1980 at the age of 55 after suffering a severe heart attack. His last vocal performance was for the Laxmikant-Pyarelal-composed film Aas Paas.
In the meanwhile, Jackie will next appear in “Welcome To The Jungle,” an upcoming comedy directed by Ahmed Khan.
