US: In Sudan, the wants a humanitarian ceasefire
US : Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the situation in Sudan is “horrifying” and stated that the US is pushing for a humanitarian truce.

“Our immediate goal is a humanitarian truce going into the new year that allows humanitarian organizations to deliver aid to the people in great distress,” Rubio said.
According to him, Washington is still in contact with its regional allies.
Rubio said, “We’ve been engaging with those countries,” alluding to the countries that are participating in diplomacy about Sudan.
According to Rubio, the US has placed a strong emphasis on accountability.
“It’s terrible that everyone involved will look bad when the truth about what really happened there is revealed,” he remarked.
He said the dispute has been exacerbated by foreign assistance.
Rubio said, “We’ve emphasized that none of these groups can function without the external support they’re receiving.”
Rubio claims that a lack of follow-through has been one of the difficulties.
He referred to previous agreements made by the opposing groups, saying, “They’ll agree to anything and implement nothing.”
Diplomacy is complicated by the dynamics of the battlefield, he remarked.
According to Rubio, “it’s common for one side to feel like they’re making progress on the battlefield and not necessarily see the need to concede.”
Humanitarian help is the US’s top priority, according to Rubio. “This humanitarian truce is our top priority, and we’re focused on it 99 percent of the time,” he said.
The next weeks provide a chance, he added. “We believe that the upcoming holidays and the new year are a great opportunity for both sides to agree to that,” Rubio said.
One of the biggest humanitarian catastrophes in the world has been brought on by the civil war that has raged in Sudan since April 2023 between the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces.
Millions have been uprooted, and as conflict and instability continue to limit access, relief organizations have frequently warned of the possibility of starvation.
