Goa Nightclub Fire: Why is the deportation of the Luthra brothers from Thailand taking so long?
Goa Nightclub Fire: The Luthra brothers, Gaurav and Saurabh, were arrested in Thailand on Thursday and are presently in the process of being deported. Hours after a devastating fire at the Goa nightclub claimed the lives of twenty-five people, the Luthra brothers, who were co-owners of the Birch by Romeo Lane, escaped to Phuket.

However, according to a CNN-News18 story, their deportation seems to have been postponed because of the legal procedure mandated by Thai law.
According to sources cited in the news, the Luthra brothers’ passports used to enter Thailand have been suspended, therefore they will need an emergency document in order to depart the country.
The Indian embassy may expedite the necessary papers; however, deportation may be complicated by further legal procedures that take time.
The Luthra brothers disguised their true purpose for the visit throughout the immigration procedure, thus the Thai government is attempting to rescind their visas.
They used tourist visas, which are only allowed for legitimate travel, to enter Thailand. A Blue Corner Notice was issued against them, confirming their fugitive status, according to the article. Their expulsion will be made possible by the termination of their visas.
“Visa cancellation could entail a Thai court order declaring them as individuals who are in Thailand illegally,” the newspaper cited a top official as saying. Deportation would only be possible in this manner.
Today, the Luthra pair will be sent to a correctional facility.
According to the article, the two will probably be sent to a jail facility today to finish the remaining legal proceedings. The weekend could interfere with this procedure, which might take two or more days in total.
On Thursday morning, Thai officials located the Luthra brothers at the Hotel Indigo in Patong, Phuket.
