Politics – Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav on Friday launched a sharp political attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing the ruling party of being responsible for the major issues confronting the country. His remarks came at a time when protests linked to alleged irregularities in the NEET examination continue across several states, drawing reactions from political parties, student groups and civil society organisations.
Akhilesh Yadav Criticises BJP on Social Media
In a post shared on X, Akhilesh Yadav used a symbolic comparison to argue that addressing surface-level concerns would not resolve deeper governance issues. He said that when the source of a problem remains untouched, attempts to fix its consequences are unlikely to succeed.
Using the metaphor of a tree, the Samajwadi Party leader claimed that the country’s problems originate from a single political source, naming the BJP as the underlying cause. He also repeated a political slogan calling for the party to be voted out of power, saying that the country required political change rather than quick fixes.
Protests Continue Over NEET Examination Issues
Yadav’s remarks come as demonstrations over the national medical entrance examination continue in different parts of the country. Protesters have been demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination process and have called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Student organisations, youth groups and opposition parties have maintained pressure on the Centre, arguing that concerns related to examination transparency must be addressed through credible action. The protests have remained a prominent political issue over recent weeks.
Political Meeting Scheduled Amid Ongoing Demonstrations
Meanwhile, a meeting involving representatives of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and BJP National President JP Nadda is scheduled to take place at 12:30 pm at the CCI. The discussion is expected to occur against the backdrop of continuing protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, where demonstrators have reiterated their demand for the resignation of the Union Education Minister over the alleged examination irregularities.
Although no official details about the agenda have been released, the meeting comes at a politically significant time as opposition parties continue to raise questions over the handling of the examination controversy.
Student Groups Raise Wider Employment Concerns
On Thursday, students and youth organisations organised a protest in Bhopal, condemning police action against demonstrators at Jantar Mantar. Along with seeking the resignation of the Union Education Minister, participants also highlighted broader concerns related to employment opportunities and recruitment.
The protesters demanded that vacant government positions be filled without unnecessary delays. They also sought action in connection with alleged irregularities involving nursing colleges. Organisers said students from nearly 20 districts of Madhya Pradesh joined the demonstration, making it one of the larger state-level gatherings on the issue.
Demonstrations Reported in Several States
Support for the student movement has also emerged from other parts of the country. In Shimla, the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), which is affiliated with the Communist Party of India (Marxist), organised a protest backing the nationwide campaign over the alleged NEET paper leak. Demonstrators there also demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Similar protests were reported from Karnataka, Maharashtra and Bihar, indicating that concerns over examination integrity have resonated across multiple states. As the issue continues to attract political attention, the debate over examination reforms, transparency and accountability is expected to remain at the centre of national discussions in the coming days.
