Woman Files Serious Complaint at Kanpur Hotel

In a separate development earlier this week, police in Kanpur registered a criminal case after a woman accused a hotel manager and several others of assault and rape. The complaint was filed at Kalyanpur Police Station on May 20, prompting immediate police action.

According to officials, the accused individuals were detained shortly after the complaint was lodged and are currently being questioned. Investigators also collected electronic evidence, including CCTV footage from the hotel premises, as part of the inquiry.

West Kanpur Deputy Commissioner of Police SM Qasim Abidi stated that police acted promptly after receiving the woman’s statement. He added that the complainant was sent for medical examination while investigators examined the available digital evidence.

CCTV Footage Reviewed by Investigators

Police officials said the initial review of CCTV recordings did not immediately support the allegations made in the complaint. However, authorities clarified that the investigation remains active and conclusions will only be drawn after all evidence, including medical reports and witness testimonies, is examined.

Hardoi Cyber Police Expose Illegal Online Network

Meanwhile, in another major operation in Uttar Pradesh, the Cyber Police Station in Hardoi uncovered an alleged online pornography racket involving minors and large-scale financial transactions through social media platforms.

Police arrested Vikas Singh, identified as a B.Tech graduate from the 2019 batch, after receiving intelligence inputs regarding the circulation of objectionable content targeting minors. Officials said the information was first received on May 17, following which a formal case was registered and multiple police teams were formed to trace the accused.

Social Media Platforms Allegedly Used for Distribution

Hardoi City Circle Officer Ankit Mishra stated that the accused allegedly used messaging applications and social networking platforms to distribute illegal material to a wide audience. During interrogation, investigators reportedly discovered that the network had been operating on a significant scale.

Authorities are now examining financial records and digital devices recovered during the operation to identify possible links to other individuals involved in the activity. Cyber experts are assisting in tracing online transactions and communication channels connected to the case.

Officials added that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found associated with the network. The investigation remains ongoing, and police are continuing efforts to identify additional suspects and victims linked to the operation.
