Shikhar Dhawan Joins Yuzvendra Chahal in Taking Another Shot at Dhanashree Verma: “Just Four Crores…”

On social media, Yuzvendra Chahal isn’t holding back while criticizing his ex-wife, Dhanashree Verma, in an oblique manner. Yuzvendra Chahal, a cricket player, is once again in the center of a social media frenzy, this time over his veiled jab at his ex-wife and the purported alimony he must give her after their divorce.

Recently, cricket player Shikhar Dhawan posted pictures from his family’s Diwali and Bhai Dooj festivities on Instagram. “Aapke pose pe copyright maar raha hun bhaiya, 4 crores only,” Yuzvendra Chahal said. Shikhar added to the joke by writing, “Deal pakki.”

Yuzendra’s most recent jab against Dhanashree coincides with this. The Indian leg-spinner’s latest Instagram post, which seemed to reference a Delhi High Court decision, sparked a lot of rumors that he was making a subtle jab at his ex-wife, Dhanashree Verma. A court ruling that said, “Financially independent wives cannot demand alimony from their husbands,” was screenshotted by Chahal.

He also wrote, “Maa Kasam Khao Nahi Paltoge iss Decision Seh,” which means, “Make a vow to your mother that you won’t change your mind.” Despite being removed soon after, the tweet went viral almost away, with followers arguing about whether Dhanashree was the target or whether it was just his way of supporting the court’s position.

Months after his highly publicized split with influencer and choreographer Dhanashree Verma, Chahal made this post. Prior to their breakup in March of this year after proceedings at the Bombay High Court, the pair, who were married in December 2020, were among cricket’s most popular couples. Although neither side formally verified the amount, reports at the time indicated a settlement of around Rs 4 crore.

But as Dhanashree explained when she appeared on Rise and Fall, “Officially, it has been almost a year.” Because it was reciprocal, it occurred swiftly, which is why alimony is incorrectly used. Will you continue to say anything just because I’m not saying anything? I’ve learned from my parents to only defend myself to those who are important to me. Why spend time describing yourself to people who don’t even know you?

A number of cricketing greats attended the extravagant 2020 wedding of Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma. But after four years of marriage, the public began to question their connection, which resulted in one of the most well-publicized divorces in the entertainment and sports sectors. The separation was finalized earlier this year after the pair filed for divorce in February 2024.
