Karnataka bharat jodo yuva sangha launch

The Karnataka government has officially sanctioned the establishment of 10,000 Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas (BJYS) across the state as part of a major youth empowerment programme. The initiative will cover 6,000 gram panchayats and 4,000 urban wards, with each organisation receiving an annual grant of Rs 10 lakh. The state has allocated Rs 1,010 crore for the project, including Rs 10 crore reserved for administrative expenses. Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara said the programme is intended to encourage sports, cultural activities, scientific thinking, leadership, and social harmony among young people.

Coverage Planned Across Rural and Urban Karnataka

According to the government order, one Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha will be created in every gram panchayat. In urban areas, the number of organisations will depend on population size. One sangha will be established for every 4,000 residents in town panchayats, every 6,000 residents in municipalities, every 8,000 residents in city municipal councils, and every 10,000 residents within municipal corporations and the Greater Bengaluru Authority limits.

The programme will be coordinated by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports. It will receive administrative support from the Departments of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Urban Development, Revenue, and Education to ensure implementation across different regions of the state.

Financial Assistance and Leadership Development

The government has announced that every registered sangha will receive an annual grant of Rs 10 lakh. In addition, one trainer attached to each organisation will be paid an annual honorarium of Rs 24,000.

Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Parameshwara said the objective is to develop leadership skills among young citizens, encourage constructive community participation, and prepare them to take greater responsibility in society. The government believes the programme will provide structured opportunities for youth to contribute positively to their local communities.

Activities to Focus on Sports and Community Welfare

The Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas will organise a wide range of programmes throughout the year. Planned activities include rural sports competitions, yoga camps, health awareness drives, cleanliness campaigns, community service projects, and other initiatives designed to improve public participation and promote healthy lifestyles.

Officials expect these programmes to encourage greater involvement of young people in social development while also supporting physical fitness, cultural engagement, and civic responsibility.

Membership Rules and Registration Process

Individuals interested in forming a Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha can submit applications through the dedicated BJYS online portal or at authorised citizen service centres. Each organisation must have at least 100 members between the ages of 16 and 35 years before registration can be completed.

Every sangha will be registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960. To support their functioning, district administrations have been instructed to provide suitable meeting spaces in government schools, colleges, community halls, or other public buildings wherever available.

Monitoring Structure and Implementation Timeline

Each Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha will elect a 15-member executive committee from among its members. District-level committees will also be formed, with each committee serving a two-year term. At the state level, a monitoring committee headed by the Chief Minister will supervise the implementation and progress of the programme.

The government has directed officials to complete registration of the youth organisations, software installation, and project guidelines by July 31. Statewide activities, training programmes, and the release of the first two instalments of financial assistance are scheduled to be completed by October 31.
