Weather – Tamil Nadu Braces for Hotter Days as Rain Continues in Select Areas
Weather – Residents across several parts of Tamil Nadu are expected to experience hotter daytime conditions over the next few days, according to the latest forecast issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai. While temperatures are projected to rise in several interior districts until July 30, some hilly and coastal regions are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall during the same period, creating varied weather conditions across the state.
Above-Normal Temperatures Expected in Interior Districts
The latest weather bulletin indicates that maximum temperatures in eight districts could remain between 2 and 4 degrees Celsius above the seasonal average at a few locations. The districts expected to witness this increase include Vellore, Erode, Karur, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi, and Tirunelveli.
Weather officials have noted that the rise in daytime temperatures may continue through July 30. Residents living in these districts have been advised to stay cautious, particularly during the afternoon when heat levels are likely to be at their highest.
Heat Safety Measures Recommended
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has urged people to limit direct exposure to the sun during the hottest part of the day. Authorities have recommended drinking enough water, avoiding unnecessary outdoor activities in peak afternoon hours, and taking suitable precautions to reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses.
The advisory comes as many regions across Tamil Nadu continue to experience warm and humid conditions despite occasional rainfall in certain locations over the past few days.
Rainfall Likely in Western Ghats and Coastal Areas
In contrast to the expected heat across the interior districts, the Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast light to moderate rainfall over parts of the Western Ghats until July 30. These showers are expected to provide temporary relief from high temperatures and may also benefit agricultural activities in the hill regions.
The weather department has also predicted isolated rainfall at one or two places across North Coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from Tuesday through July 30. Although widespread rainfall is not expected, local weather conditions may support scattered showers in some areas.
Chennai to Experience Warm Weather With Isolated Showers
For Chennai, the forecast points to partly cloudy skies over the coming days. A few areas of the city may receive light rainfall, mainly during the evening or nighttime hours. However, meteorologists have not indicated the possibility of heavy rain for the city during this forecast period.
Daytime temperatures in Chennai are expected to remain close to normal seasonal values, although humidity is likely to keep conditions uncomfortable for many residents.
Weather Conditions May Change After July 30
According to meteorologists, the present spell of higher temperatures could gradually ease after July 30, depending on the development of weather systems over the Bay of Bengal and nearby regions. Any significant changes in these atmospheric conditions may influence both temperature patterns and rainfall across the state in the coming days.
