Weather – Pune Experiences Rising Temperatures After Brief Rainfall Relief
Weather – Pune witnessed a noticeable increase in temperature on Sunday, April 5, as the mercury climbed sharply following a short spell of rain earlier in the week. Lohegaon recorded a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius, signaling the return of summer heat after a brief period of relief. The recent showers had temporarily lowered temperatures, but the city is now gradually transitioning back to warmer conditions.

Temperature Climbs After Rain-Induced Dip
Over the previous two days, rainfall had brought some comfort to residents by reducing daytime temperatures to around 32 degrees Celsius. However, this relief proved short-lived. As the skies cleared, temperatures began rising again, crossing the 36-degree mark in several areas. According to recent observations, Lohegaon registered 36.1°C, while Shivajinagar recorded 33.7°C. Areas such as Chinchwad and NDA reported slightly lower but still warm temperatures of 32.8°C.
This steady rise indicates that the cooling effect of the rain has faded quickly, allowing heat to build up once again across the city.
Forecast Suggests Warmer Days Ahead
The Pune Observatory has indicated that the city is likely to experience further increases in maximum temperatures over the coming days. Weather officials have also suggested the possibility of heat wave conditions returning after the recent spell of unseasonal rain.
For the next two to three days, skies are expected to remain mostly clear during the morning hours. However, cloud development is likely during the afternoons, which may contribute to a rise in humidity levels. While clouds typically offer shade, in this case, they are expected to trap heat, making conditions feel more uncomfortable.
Humidity Adds to Discomfort
The rainfall over the past week has not only influenced temperatures but has also led to increased moisture in the air. This rise in humidity is being felt across both the city and its surrounding suburban areas. Even though the actual temperature may not seem extremely high at all times, the combination of heat and humidity is making the weather feel more oppressive.
Afternoons, in particular, have become noticeably warmer and more uncomfortable. The presence of clouds during this period prevents heat from dissipating efficiently, intensifying the overall experience of warmth.
Mornings and Nights Offer Some Relief
Despite the rising daytime temperatures, residents are still experiencing relatively cooler conditions during early mornings and late nights. These brief periods of comfort are helping to balance the otherwise warm weather pattern.
However, meteorologists suggest that as temperatures continue to rise in the coming days, even these cooler intervals may gradually shorten. The shift toward sustained summer conditions appears to be underway.
Transition Toward Typical Summer Conditions
The recent weather pattern highlights a transitional phase between unseasonal rainfall and the onset of peak summer. While the showers provided temporary relief, they have also contributed to increased humidity, which now adds to the discomfort.
As Pune moves further into April, the likelihood of higher temperatures and more intense heat waves increases. Residents are advised to stay prepared for warmer days ahead, especially during the afternoon hours when temperatures tend to peak.
