Weather – Mumbai is set to experience partly cloudy conditions on Monday, April 6, with no significant rainfall expected through the day, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Temperatures are likely to remain steady, reaching around 32 degrees Celsius in the afternoon before dropping to approximately 25 degrees Celsius by evening. The overall weather pattern suggests a calm day for the city and its surrounding suburbs, with dry conditions dominating.

Thunderstorm Alert Issued for Vidarbha Region

While Mumbai is expected to remain dry, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for several districts in Maharashtra. Areas including Amravati, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, and Yavatmal may experience isolated thunderstorms. These weather events are expected to bring lightning, moderate rainfall, and gusty winds with speeds ranging between 40 and 50 kmph. Residents in these districts have been advised to remain cautious, particularly during sudden weather changes.

Rain and Wind Likely in Marathwada Districts

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has also forecast weather activity in parts of Marathwada. Isolated locations in the region may witness light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Wind speeds are expected to range between 30 and 40 kmph during these events. Although the intensity may vary across districts, brief spells of unsettled weather are anticipated over the next 24 hours.

Air Quality Remains Moderate in Mumbai

In terms of air quality, Mumbai recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 60, placing it within the moderate category. This indicates that while the air is acceptable for most individuals, sensitive groups may experience minor discomfort. Despite the stable weather conditions, the air quality continues to reflect a mix of urban emissions and environmental factors.

Several parts of the city reported relatively better air quality levels. Areas such as Andheri East (44), Bandra East (48), Bandra Kurla Complex (43), Colaba (32), Juhu (47), Mahalaxmi (35), Mahim (40), Mount Mary (33), and Walkeshwar (18) recorded AQI levels in the good category, suggesting cleaner air in these localities.

Mixed Air Quality Trends Across Suburbs

However, not all regions reported similar conditions. Suburban areas including Borivali East (83), Chandivali (57), Chembur (70), Kandivali East (70), and Malad West (93) fell under the moderate AQI category. These readings indicate a noticeable presence of pollutants, though not at critically harmful levels.

More concerning air quality levels were observed in certain pockets of the city. Locations such as Kannamwar Nagar (130), Khindipada (127), Subhash Nagar (193), and Mirashi Nagar recorded AQI levels categorized as poor. In these areas, prolonged exposure may lead to health issues, particularly for individuals with respiratory conditions.

Dry Weather to Continue in Mumbai

Despite the alerts issued for other parts of Maharashtra, Mumbai is not expected to receive rainfall on April 6. The prevailing weather conditions are likely to remain dry, with partial cloud cover offering some relief from direct sunlight. Meteorologists indicate that no major weather disturbances are currently expected to impact the city in the immediate term.

Overall, while Mumbai experiences stable and relatively comfortable weather, several regions across Maharashtra should remain alert due to the possibility of thunderstorms and changing wind patterns.
