UrsCelebration – Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari praised ongoing humanitarian efforts during the annual Hazrat Tajuddin Baba Urs in Nagpur, highlighting initiatives that assist devotees travelling from Andhra Pradesh.

The annual Hazrat Tajuddin Baba Urs in Nagpur witnessed a gathering of devotees from different parts of the country, with several welfare initiatives drawing appreciation from Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. During the event on Tuesday, renowned Sufi spiritual leader Hazrat Ata Nizamuddin Taj Qadri Baba from Andhra Pradesh met the minister and briefed him on the arrangements being made for pilgrims attending the religious congregation. Gadkari was also felicitated during the programme in recognition of his presence at the occasion.
Free Travel Assistance for Pilgrims
Speaking during the Urs celebrations, Hazrat Ata Nizamuddin Taj Qadri Baba explained that devotees travelling from Andhra Pradesh are provided with free transportation every year to enable them to participate in the annual event without financial difficulty. The initiative has become a regular feature of the pilgrimage and is intended to make the journey easier for followers who travel long distances to pay their respects at the revered shrine.
According to him, these travel arrangements are organised with the objective of encouraging greater participation in the Urs while ensuring that devotees receive the necessary support throughout their journey.
Community Kitchen Serves Visitors Throughout the Festival
Apart from transportation facilities, a dedicated service camp has been established at the Hazrat Tajuddin Baba Dargah for the duration of the Urs. The camp offers free community meals, commonly known as langar, to pilgrims visiting the shrine during the festival.
Volunteers associated with the initiative remain engaged throughout the event to ensure that visitors are provided with freshly prepared meals regardless of their background. The organisers said the service reflects the long-standing tradition of hospitality and compassion associated with the Urs celebrations and aims to provide comfort to thousands of attendees.
Gadkari Commends Humanitarian Initiatives
After learning about these welfare activities, Nitin Gadkari praised the efforts led by Hazrat Ata Nizamuddin Taj Qadri Baba. He said such initiatives represent a meaningful blend of spiritual values and public service, benefiting people through acts of kindness and generosity.
The Union Minister observed that charitable work carried out without expectation of personal gain strengthens social harmony and encourages a spirit of collective responsibility. He acknowledged the dedication of those involved in organising transportation and food services for devotees and described the initiatives as an example of community-driven service.
Message of Service and Social Responsibility
Gadkari also encouraged people to draw inspiration from such humanitarian efforts by contributing to similar charitable activities within society. He noted that religious gatherings often provide an opportunity to promote values of compassion, cooperation and selfless service, which can have a lasting positive impact beyond the event itself.
He further remarked that seeking spiritual blessings should be accompanied by a commitment to helping others, adding that community welfare initiatives associated with the Urs demonstrate how faith-based events can contribute to social well-being. The minister appreciated the continued dedication of Hazrat Ata Nizamuddin Taj Qadri Baba and the volunteers who have been supporting pilgrims through these services over the years.
