Telangana – KTR Slams State Government Over Governance and Promises

Sharp Criticism During Assembly Proceedings

Addressing the Assembly, KTR accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of delivering a speech that lacked both clarity and substance. He said the address failed to touch upon key promises made to the people, particularly the much-discussed six guarantees. Instead, he alleged, the speech appeared focused on self-promotion rather than governance.

KTR further claimed that the administration showed little concern for public welfare, adding that the government’s actions did not reflect empathy toward citizens. He also criticised the Governor’s address, suggesting that it included misleading statements that should not have been presented.

Concerns Over Democratic Practices

Raising procedural concerns, KTR stated that opposition voices were not given adequate opportunity to respond during the session. He described the functioning of the Assembly as a setback for democratic values, alleging that normal parliamentary practices were overlooked.

He also took objection to the tone of the Chief Minister during discussions, calling it inappropriate for the dignity of the House. KTR demanded that such remarks either be formally withdrawn or removed from official records to maintain decorum.

Questions on Welfare Spending and Borrowings

Focusing on financial matters, KTR questioned how the government has utilised its reported borrowings. Referring to claims that the state had taken loans exceeding Rs 3.47 lakh crore, he asked whether these funds had translated into tangible benefits for the public.

He pointed to delays or gaps in welfare schemes, including pensions, financial assistance for women, and support for farmers. KTR also raised concerns about unfulfilled assurances, stating that several promises made to beneficiaries remain unaddressed.

Critique of Policy Direction and Governance Model

KTR alleged that the government had moved away from its earlier commitments and was presenting new narratives to shift focus. He criticised the administration’s policy direction, suggesting that it lacked transparency and consistency.

He also highlighted concerns regarding the Musi river development project, stating that it appeared to lack detailed planning, financial clarity, and a comprehensive project report. According to him, such initiatives require greater scrutiny and accountability.

Allegations on Housing and Development Priorities

On the issue of housing, KTR accused the government of demolishing existing structures without providing alternative housing solutions. He claimed that development priorities seemed skewed, with an increased focus on land-related matters rather than welfare-oriented initiatives.

Drawing a comparison with the previous BRS government, KTR referred to irrigation projects and tank restoration efforts undertaken under Mission Kakatiya, stating that those initiatives had delivered visible results on the ground.

BRS Signals Continued Opposition

Concluding his remarks, KTR asserted that his party would continue to question the government and highlight issues affecting the public. He said the BRS remains committed to ensuring accountability and bringing attention to promises that have yet to be fulfilled.

The exchange reflects the growing political contest in the state, with both sides expected to continue debating governance and development priorities in the coming days.
