Blast Reported Outside BSF Headquarters in Jalandhar

The first incident took place around 8 pm near the Border Security Force Punjab Frontier headquarters in Jalandhar. According to police officials, a parked scooter near the entrance suddenly caught fire following a loud explosion-like sound.

Witnesses in the area said panic spread quickly after smoke engulfed the spot. CCTV footage from the location reportedly captured the moment of the blast and the smoke cloud that followed.

The explosion caused visible damage to a scooter, shattered nearby windowpanes, and affected a traffic signal pole close to the site. Officials identified the scooter owner as Gurpreet Singh, a parcel delivery worker who frequently visits the area for work-related deliveries.

Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur stated that Gurpreet Singh is cooperating fully with investigators and that authorities are examining all possible angles linked to the incident.

Second Explosion Near Army Cantonment in Amritsar

A few hours later, another explosion was reported near the army cantonment area in Khasa, Amritsar, at approximately 11 pm. Police teams rushed to the location immediately after receiving reports of a loud blast.

Senior Superintendent of Police Suhail Mir Qasim said preliminary findings suggest that an explosive object may have been thrown towards the boundary wall, resulting in the detonation. A section of tin covering near the wall was damaged during the blast.

The area was quickly sealed off as bomb disposal experts and forensic teams collected evidence from the scene. Army officials also visited the location to assess the security situation.

Residents living nearby described hearing a powerful sound late at night. Some locals said they came out of their homes moments after the explosion to understand what had happened in the area.

CCTV Footage and Forensic Examination Under Review

Investigators are closely studying CCTV recordings from both locations to identify suspicious movement before and after the incidents. Visuals from the Amritsar site reportedly show smoke spreading across the road moments after the explosion.

Authorities have not officially confirmed the exact type of explosive material used in either case. Police officers stated that technical examination and forensic analysis are underway and more details will emerge after the investigation progresses.

Security arrangements around sensitive installations in Punjab have also been strengthened following the incidents.

Political Leaders Raise Questions Over Security Lapses

The explosions triggered strong reactions from opposition parties, which questioned the state government’s handling of law and order.

Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal criticised Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over what he described as repeated intelligence failures in Punjab. He referred to recent security-related incidents in the state and demanded accountability from the administration.

Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring also expressed concern over the back-to-back explosions. He questioned whether attempts were being made to disturb peace in Punjab and urged both the state and central governments to take immediate corrective measures.

Earlier Patiala Rail Track Blast Linked to Terror Module

The latest incidents come days after an explosion damaged a freight corridor rail track in Shambhu, Patiala, on April 27. Police later announced the arrest of four alleged members linked to a pro-Khalistan terror module that investigators claimed had support from Pakistan-based intelligence operatives.

Officials are now examining whether there could be any connection between the recent explosions and previous incidents reported in the state.
