In his social media post, Chadha said the morning was one he would remember and thanked the Prime Minister for the interaction. His remarks came shortly after he, along with six other Rajya Sabha MPs, moved from the Aam Aadmi Party to the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The meeting with Chadha came amid a series of interactions between Prime Minister Modi and members of the National Democratic Alliance. The meetings have taken place during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, which has seen repeated disruptions.

Modi Meets NDA MPs Over Breakfast

On August 7, Prime Minister Modi hosted more than 40 MPs representing different NDA constituents at his official residence in New Delhi. The breakfast meeting included recently aligned lawmakers as well as MPs from several NDA parties.

Members of Shiv Sena, the Republican Party of India (Athawale), Rashtriya Lok Morcha, AIADMK and United People’s Party Liberal were among those present. MPs who recently joined the NDA following political realignments were also part of the gathering.

The functioning of Parliament emerged as one of the key issues discussed during the interaction. Several MPs said the Prime Minister spoke about the need for Parliament to function smoothly and for lawmakers to get adequate opportunities to participate in debates.

PM Stresses Need for Smooth Parliament Functioning

Shiv Sena MP Jyoti Waghmare said Modi expressed concern over repeated disruptions in Parliament. According to her, the Prime Minister pointed out that frequent disturbances prevent the country from hearing the views of new and talented MPs.

Waghmare also said the Prime Minister interacted with the lawmakers in a warm and informal manner and offered advice on their responsibilities as elected representatives. Since August 7 was National Handloom Day, she presented Modi with a Solapur handloom chadar featuring his image.

Maharashtra Development Also Discussed

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who attended the breakfast meeting, said his discussion with the Prime Minister covered the state’s development and rainfall situation.

Shinde described the gathering as cordial and said the invitation extended personally to the newly aligned Shiv Sena MPs was a source of happiness for the party’s lawmakers. He added that the Prime Minister acknowledged the presence of the new MPs during the interaction.

Focus on Eastern States and Youth

NCPI MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said the visiting lawmakers were impressed by the Prime Minister’s approach and his emphasis on treating NDA members as one group. She said Modi underlined the importance of unity and collective efforts for development in West Bengal and the eastern states.

Another NCPI MP, Sudip Bandyopadhyay, said discussions also touched on development in the northeastern region and the need to work toward the Prime Minister’s stated vision.

Rachna Banerjee, also an NCPI MP, described the breakfast meeting as a fruitful interaction and said the invitation was an honour for the participating lawmakers.

Advice on Connecting With Young People

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal said Modi also shared experiences from his personal, political and social life during the interaction. According to Mittal, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of being punctual in fulfilling commitments.

Mittal further said Modi advised MPs to engage with students and young people by listening to them carefully instead of focusing only on speaking to them.

Union Health Minister JP Nadda and BJP president Nitin Nabin were also present at the breakfast meeting.
