QatarExplosion –   India has expressed grief over the loss of lives in the industrial explosion that occurred at Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City, where several Indian nationals were among those affected. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar conveyed condolences to the families of the victims and assured that the Government of India is closely monitoring the situation through its diplomatic mission in Doha. He stated that the Indian Embassy remains in regular contact with Qatari authorities and is extending assistance to impacted families.

Indian Embassy Coordinates Relief Efforts

In an official statement, the Indian Embassy in Qatar confirmed that 12 Indian citizens lost their lives in the incident that took place on Sunday night. The mission expressed sympathy to the bereaved families and offered prayers for those who died in the tragedy.

The embassy also noted that all injured individuals are receiving medical attention and that their conditions have been reported as stable by local authorities. Officials are maintaining close coordination with government agencies in Qatar to ensure necessary support reaches affected Indian nationals and their relatives.

Arrangements Underway for Repatriation

Diplomatic officials have initiated procedures to facilitate the return of the mortal remains of the deceased to India. The embassy said it is working alongside Qatari authorities to complete the required formalities as quickly as possible while providing guidance and support to family members.

Indian officials have also been engaging with local agencies to address any immediate concerns related to the victims and to ensure families receive timely updates regarding developments in the case.

Investigation Continues Into Cause of Incident

According to information released by Qatar’s Ministry of Interior, the explosion resulted in 13 deaths and left 66 people injured. Preliminary findings indicate that the incident was linked to a technical malfunction that occurred during operations at a factory located within Ras Laffan Industrial City.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident. Officials said technical experts are examining operational procedures and equipment involved in the event to establish the precise cause and identify any necessary corrective measures.

The ministry emphasized that the inquiry is being conducted under applicable legal and technical regulations. Findings from the investigation are expected to help authorities strengthen safety measures and prevent similar incidents in the future.

No Environmental Threat Reported

Qatari authorities stated that assessments conducted after the explosion found no evidence of leaks or hazardous emissions that could endanger nearby communities or the surrounding environment. Emergency teams carried out inspections following the incident and confirmed that there was no broader public safety threat linked to the accident.

The Ministry of Interior also extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

QatarEnergy Provides Incident Details

State-owned energy company QatarEnergy said the accident occurred during the startup phase of operations at Ras Laffan Industrial City. According to the company, an explosion and subsequent fire broke out at the Barzan local gas supply facility during the evening hours of June 21.

Emergency response teams were deployed immediately after the incident and worked to contain the fire. QatarEnergy later confirmed that the blaze had been brought under control and that response efforts were carried out promptly to manage the situation.

The company added that it will continue to share updates as more information becomes available, while authorities complete their investigation into one of the most serious industrial accidents reported in the region this year.
