Protest – Delhi Police Register Fresh FIR After Alleged Assault on RAF Personnel During CJP Demonstration
Protest –Delhi Police have filed another First Information Report (FIR) after an alleged assault on a member of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) during the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest held in the national capital. The latest case follows the circulation of several videos on social media that reportedly captured clashes involving demonstrators and security personnel. Authorities have confirmed that the matter is under investigation, while additional details regarding those allegedly involved are yet to be made public.
FIR Registered After Videos Surface Online
According to police officials, the latest FIR was lodged after social media clips appeared to show a group of protesters attacking an RAF personnel deployed during the demonstration. The same videos also allegedly depicted individuals throwing stones at an RAF vehicle, resulting in visible damage during the confrontation. Investigators are examining the authenticity of the footage and identifying those responsible for the reported incidents.
Officials stated that the investigation is progressing and further legal action will be taken based on available evidence. Information regarding the specific charges and identities of the accused is expected to emerge as the inquiry advances.
Multiple Cases Linked to Demonstration
Delhi Police said that a total of ten FIRs have now been registered in connection with the CJP protest and other incidents related to law and order during the demonstration. The cases cover different events that occurred across central Delhi while police managed security arrangements for the protest.
The highest number of cases has been registered at Parliament Street Police Station, where four FIRs have been filed. Connaught Place Police Station has recorded three separate cases, while one FIR each has been lodged at Mandir Marg, Barakhamba Road and Kartavya Path police stations.
Police officials noted that each case pertains to separate incidents reported during the protest and is being investigated independently.
Clashes During ‘Sansad Chalo’ March
The registration of multiple FIRs follows unrest that erupted during the CJP-led ‘Sansad Chalo’ march on Monday. Thousands of protesters, including students, gathered at Jantar Mantar before attempting to move towards Parliament.
Security personnel had established barricades and imposed movement restrictions to prevent demonstrators from proceeding beyond the designated protest zone. As protesters attempted to cross the security barriers, confrontations reportedly broke out, leading to tension between police and participants.
Authorities said that the legal cases are linked to various incidents that took place during this period and are aimed at examining possible violations of law and maintaining public order.
Police Reject Viral Claims Circulated Online
A day after the protest, Delhi Police issued a clarification regarding several videos circulating on social media that claimed to show fresh incidents of stone-pelting and police action on Tuesday.
In a statement shared through the official X account of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi), officials described the circulating content as false and misleading. Police maintained that no such incident had occurred on Tuesday and appealed to the public not to forward or rely on unverified videos.
The department also advised citizens to depend only on official communication channels for confirmed updates related to the protest and ongoing investigations. Officials reiterated that misinformation shared online can create unnecessary confusion during sensitive law-and-order situations and urged users to verify facts before sharing content.
Meanwhile, investigations into all ten FIRs remain in progress, with police continuing to examine evidence, including video footage and witness accounts, to establish the sequence of events surrounding the demonstration.
