PowerCut – Scheduled Electricity Disruptions to Affect Dehradun Areas This Week

PowerCut – Residents in several parts of Dehradun are set to face planned power interruptions over multiple days as authorities carry out infrastructure upgrades and essential maintenance work. According to official information, electricity supply will remain suspended for several hours daily between April 6 and April 10 in areas linked to key feeders across the city.

Planned Work on New Power Line

The outages are primarily due to the installation of a new 33 kV transmission line stretching from Bindal Bridge to the Matawala Bagh substation. This project is expected to strengthen the city’s power distribution network in the long term. However, during the construction period, areas connected to the Bindal-Niranjanpur 33 kV feeder and the Tilak Road feeder will experience disruptions.

Power supply will remain unavailable between 10:00 AM and 4:30 PM from April 6 to April 10 in these regions. Localities such as Tilak Road, Khudbura, Machhi Bazar, Anand Chowk, and Mantruganj will see complete outages for three consecutive days, from April 6 to April 8, during the same time window.

Additional Maintenance in Key Zones

Alongside the new line work, maintenance operations are also scheduled in other parts of the city. Electricity supply will be interrupted from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM between April 6 and April 9 in areas connected to the Raffle Home and Rajpur Road feeders. These include regions served by substations in Araghar, Parade Ground, and Patel Road.

Officials have stated that these temporary shutdowns are necessary to carry out repairs and ensure improved service reliability in the future.

Inquiry Into Underground Cable Work

Meanwhile, a separate issue has drawn attention from authorities. A senior official has initiated an inquiry into the alleged unauthorized underground installation of a 33 kV power line in certain residential areas, including Raghav Vihar, Alaknanda, and Shyampur.

The probe follows concerns raised by a local organization, which warned that the underground line could pose safety risks to nearly forty households in the vicinity. Authorities are expected to examine whether proper procedures were followed during the installation process.

Repairs in Mohanpur and Nearby Areas

In another development, scheduled maintenance work at the Mohanpur substation will also impact electricity supply in surrounding areas. Repairs to breaker panels and replacement of conductors on the Mehunwala and Rishi Vihar feeders are planned over several days.

As a result, Mohanpur will face outages on April 6 and April 7. Areas including Mehunwala, Pitthuwala, Van Vihar, Himadri Enclave, Hanumant Society, and Naya Nagar will experience disruptions from April 6 to April 8.

Further, localities such as Rishi Vihar, Telpur Chowk, Ghisarwadi, Chauhan Mohalla, and Harbanswala are scheduled for outages from April 9 to April 11, with electricity supply suspended between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Wider Impact Across City Feeders

Power cuts will also affect parts of Araghar and Parade Ground on April 6 and 7 between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Additionally, several other areas connected to feeders such as Ganeshpur, Badowala, Harbhajwala, Naya Gaon, and DSP Chowk will experience interruptions.

These include Ganeshpur, Karbari, Jhiwarhedi, Sumeru Vihar, Gorkha Karbari, Manaksiddh Road, Shakti Vihar, Chandratal, Tutowala, Premnagar Road, Sewli, Ratanpur, Malhan, Pelio, Bhudpur, Singhniwala, Hasanpur, Sherpur, and Chakmash.

Advisory for Residents

Authorities have advised residents to plan their daily activities accordingly and take necessary precautions during the scheduled outage periods. While the temporary inconvenience may disrupt routines, officials maintain that the ongoing upgrades and repairs are crucial for ensuring a more stable and efficient power supply in the future.
