Politics – Punjab Leaders Exchange Sharp Remarks Ahead of 2027 Elections
Politics – Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann intensified his criticism of the BJP and the RSS during his ongoing “Shukrana Yatra” in Bathinda, where he accused the party of promoting divisions among communities for political gains. Addressing supporters at the public gathering, Mann also referred to the recent violence reported after elections in West Bengal and questioned the BJP’s approach towards dissent and nationalism.

Mann Questions BJP Over Nationalism Debate
During his speech, Mann said incidents of violence and arson in West Bengal reflected the functioning style of political opponents who were now demanding strict legal action against him. He described the situation as contradictory and challenged the BJP and RSS on the issue of patriotism.
The Punjab Chief Minister further alleged that the RSS headquarters in Nagpur had not hoisted the national flag for several decades after Independence. He asked whether such organisations now intended to issue “certificates” deciding who was patriotic and who was anti-national. His comments drew attention from political circles as the ruling AAP continued its outreach campaign across Punjab.
Haryana Chief Minister Targets Punjab Government
Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched a counterattack on the AAP-led Punjab government during a press conference on Friday. Saini claimed that the situation in Punjab had deteriorated and was now worse than conditions seen in West Bengal in recent years.
He accused the Punjab administration of failing to tackle major concerns including drug abuse, illegal mining activities, and weakening law and order. Referring to the governance model in West Bengal under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Saini alleged that common citizens there had struggled to get justice and even police complaints were ignored in several cases.
Saini further pointed to recent explosion incidents in Punjab and said there appeared to be contradictions within the state government’s statements. While Chief Minister Mann had reportedly denied having detailed information about the incidents, Saini claimed the Punjab Director General of Police had indicated possible links to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI.
AAP Focuses on Youth Outreach Through Sports Personalities
As political parties gradually prepare for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party has started strengthening its public outreach by bringing well-known sports personalities into the organisation.
Recently, wrestler-turned-public figure Jaskanwar Singh Patti joined the party in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The move comes at a time when AAP is attempting to recover from the departure of seven Members of Parliament from the party.
The ruling party believes that athletes, particularly those connected with wrestling and kabaddi, have a strong influence in Punjab’s rural communities and among younger voters. Pritpal Singh Phagwara and Inderpreet Singh have also recently joined the party as part of this campaign.
Mann stated that the discipline and achievements of these sports figures could motivate young people positively and help support the government’s anti-drug awareness efforts. Through these inductions, the party is aiming to strengthen its grassroots network and build stronger engagement with youth ahead of the next state elections.
