Court Reviews Security Arrangements in Locality

The Bench noted submissions made by the State, which stated that several preventive steps have already been implemented in the area. These include the installation of surveillance cameras and the deployment of police personnel at key points to maintain peace.

Authorities informed the Court that a police team has been stationed outside the family’s residence to ensure their safety. In addition, the local Station House Officer has been instructed to remain directly accessible to the family, including sharing his personal contact details for immediate assistance in case of any emergency.

Action Taken Against Online Inflammatory Content

The Court also took into account the role of social media in escalating tensions. It was informed that more than 250 objectionable videos connected to the incident have already been removed from various platforms.

The judges allowed the petitioners to continue reporting any such content that may surface in the future so that swift action can be taken to remove it. The Court stressed the importance of controlling digital misinformation and inflammatory posts that could worsen communal sensitivity.

Investigation Into Threat Allegations Continues

During the proceedings, recent complaints of threats to the victim’s family were also discussed. The Court recorded that police have gathered relevant evidence related to these allegations.

Officials confirmed that the matter is currently under review by a senior officer at the level of Assistant Commissioner of Police, who will decide on further legal action based on the findings.

Background of the Uttam Nagar Incident

The case relates to the death of 26-year-old Tarun, who was killed on March 4, 2026, during Holi celebrations in Uttam Nagar. According to the complaint filed by his mother, Laxmi Devi, the violence began over a minor dispute involving a balloon thrown by a child.

What started as a small altercation reportedly escalated quickly into a serious confrontation, ultimately leading to the fatal incident.

Legal Proceedings and Arrests So Far

Following the incident, a First Information Report was registered at Uttam Nagar police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The petition submitted to the Court stated that 22 individuals have been identified in connection with the case. Out of these, 18 have already been taken into custody, while efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining accused.

Family Raises Concerns Over Safety and Pressure

The victim’s family, who are key witnesses in the case, told the Court they have been facing repeated threats and intimidation. They alleged that individuals linked to the accused have attempted to pressure them into withdrawing from the legal proceedings.

One particular incident on April 13 was highlighted, where women allegedly associated with the accused approached the family and issued threats, warning them of further consequences if they continued pursuing the case.

Court Emphasizes Continued Vigilance

While acknowledging the steps already taken by the police, the Court underscored the need for continued vigilance to ensure the safety of witnesses and prevent any disruption to the investigation.

The matter remains under close observation, with authorities expected to act promptly on both security concerns and any new developments related to the case.
