Justice – Delhi Court Awards Life Term in Minor Assault Case After Swift Trial
Justice – A Delhi court has handed down a life sentence to a 38-year-old man after concluding proceedings in a case involving the sexual assault of a minor girl. According to police officials, the trial was completed within just eight days, resulting in a conviction and a stringent punishment for the accused.

Complaint Led to Immediate Police Action
The case came to light on April 17 when the teenage victim, accompanied by her parents, approached authorities and reported repeated sexual abuse allegedly committed by her neighbour. In her statement to investigators, she claimed that the assaults had taken place multiple times during July 2025.
Based on the complaint, police registered a First Information Report (FIR) at Nihal Vihar Police Station in Outer Delhi on the same day. Officials stated that the seriousness of the allegations prompted an immediate investigation into the matter.
Medical Examination Confirmed Pregnancy
As part of the investigation process, the victim underwent a medical examination. Police said the examination confirmed that the girl was more than 32 weeks pregnant at the time the complaint was filed.
Following the medical findings, investigators intensified their efforts and gathered evidence related to the case. Authorities noted that the accused was taken into custody on the same day the FIR was registered, ensuring that the investigation moved forward without delay.
Chargesheet Filed Within Statutory Timeline
Police officials highlighted that the case was handled under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. They further stated that the chargesheet was submitted before the court within 34 days of the FIR being registered.
A dedicated team of investigators was assigned to examine all aspects of the allegations, collect supporting evidence, and complete procedural requirements within the prescribed timeframe. Authorities described the investigation as a coordinated effort aimed at ensuring a speedy judicial process.
Court Delivers Verdict and Sentencing
After reviewing the evidence and hearing arguments presented during the proceedings, the court delivered its judgment on May 29. The sentencing order was issued a day later, on May 30.
The convicted man was awarded rigorous imprisonment for life and directed to pay a fine of Rs 50,000. Police said the court made it clear that the life sentence would extend for the remainder of the convict’s natural life, reflecting the gravity of the offence.
Financial Support Approved for Victim
In addition to the punishment imposed on the offender, financial assistance has also been approved for the survivor. According to police, compensation amounting to Rs 16.5 lakh has been sanctioned to support the victim.
Officials stated that the compensation is intended to aid the survivor’s rehabilitation and welfare. The case has drawn attention to the importance of prompt investigations and timely judicial action in matters involving crimes against children.
The swift completion of both the investigation and trial has been cited by authorities as an example of coordinated efforts between law enforcement agencies and the judicial system in handling sensitive cases involving minors.
