Infrastructure – Guntur Development Projects Reviewed, New Plans and Timeline Shared
Infrastructure – Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandrasekhar conducted a detailed assessment of several ongoing and proposed urban development initiatives in Guntur on Friday. The review covered 22 key matters related to infrastructure and civic improvement, reflecting a broader push to upgrade the city’s facilities and living standards.

Review Meeting Highlights Key Infrastructure Projects
The review session took place at the Collectorate’s video conference hall, bringing together elected representatives, district-level officials, and members of the Guntur Municipal Corporation. Discussions focused on project timelines, bottlenecks, and strategies to ensure timely completion.
Among the major projects discussed was the Shankar Vilas bridge. The minister indicated that construction work would move forward more quickly once pending land acquisition is finalised. Officials are aiming to complete the project by July 2027, provided no further delays arise.
Progress Report on Road and Civic Projects
Attention was also given to the Inner Ring Road project, where earlier obstacles have now been addressed. Authorities expressed confidence that the project would proceed without further disruptions.
In addition, several key civic projects—including PVK Naidu Market, Manasa Sarovaram, and the Nallapadu Tank—are set to be developed under the public-private partnership model. This approach is expected to bring in private investment while maintaining public oversight, helping to accelerate execution and improve quality.
New Developments Planned for Public Spaces
The minister announced that construction of the Narla Venkateswara Rao Auditorium will begin soon, adding to the city’s cultural infrastructure. Meanwhile, Bongaralabeedu is slated for transformation into a recreational hub, with plans for walking tracks and sports facilities designed to promote community engagement and healthier lifestyles.
Speaking at the meeting, Pemmasani Chandrasekhar emphasised the broader vision behind these efforts. He stated that the objective is to shape Guntur into a modern, clean, and well-planned urban centre, capable of meeting the needs of a growing population.
Informal Gathering Brings Leaders Together
Later in the day, an informal dinner meeting was hosted at the minister’s residence, attended by several political leaders from the Guntur parliamentary region. The gathering included Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, along with legislators and party members.
The meeting provided an opportunity for leaders to exchange views on organisational strengthening and recent political developments within the state. It also served as a platform to review the progress of welfare initiatives and development programmes underway across the district.
Focus on Organisation and Grassroots Challenges
Participants discussed constituency-wise performance of various projects, including funding patterns and implementation progress over the past 22 months. Local representatives shared feedback from the ground, highlighting challenges faced by party workers during the period when the party was not in power.
These concerns included difficulties in accessing administrative support and maintaining engagement with constituents. The discussion aimed to identify ways to address these issues more effectively moving forward.
Assurance of Support from Leadership
During the interaction, Minister Nara Lokesh assured attendees that both leaders and grassroots workers would receive full support from the party leadership. He encouraged them to reach out whenever assistance is needed, signalling an effort to strengthen internal coordination and responsiveness.
The combination of administrative review and political dialogue underscored a coordinated approach to governance and organisational management in the region. As multiple infrastructure projects move ahead and new initiatives are introduced, the focus remains on delivering tangible improvements while maintaining political cohesion.
