Infrastructure – Andhra Pradesh Minister Heads to Delhi to Advance Aviation and Port Projects

Infrastructure – Andhra Pradesh is preparing to accelerate several major infrastructure proposals as senior state leaders engage with the Union government to secure approvals, improve connectivity, and attract long-term investments.

Andhra pradesh aviation port projects

The Andhra Pradesh government is set to intensify its efforts to expand the state’s infrastructure network through a series of discussions with the Centre. Minister for Investments and Infrastructure BC Janardhan Reddy will travel to New Delhi on Wednesday evening for a two-day official visit scheduled for July 2 and July 3. During the visit, he will hold meetings with senior Union ministers to review the status of important projects related to aviation, ports, and transport infrastructure that are expected to support the state’s long-term development strategy.

Focus on Aviation Expansion

One of the key meetings will be with Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu. The discussions are expected to focus on accelerating the development of proposed airports across Andhra Pradesh. The state government plans to seek faster approval for projects that are currently awaiting clearance while also exploring additional measures to strengthen regional and national air connectivity.

Officials believe that expanding airport infrastructure will improve passenger movement, encourage business travel, and support economic activities across multiple regions of the state.

Plans for Advanced Air Mobility

Apart from airport development, both leaders are expected to examine proposals aimed at building future-ready aviation infrastructure. These include the establishment of a Flight Training Organisation (FTO) Cluster to support pilot training and aviation skill development.

The agenda is also expected to cover projects such as water aerodromes, heliports, and vertiports. These facilities are considered important for supporting emerging modes of transportation and creating a stronger aviation ecosystem capable of meeting future mobility requirements.

Maritime Projects Also on Agenda

During the visit, Janardhan Reddy will also meet Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal. The discussions will focus on strategic maritime initiatives that can strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s coastal infrastructure and improve logistics capabilities.

The state government is expected to present proposals designed to enhance port-linked development, improve cargo movement, and increase opportunities for industrial investment by making transportation networks more efficient.

Government Targets Integrated Growth

The coalition government has outlined an ambitious roadmap to transform Andhra Pradesh into a leading destination for aviation and infrastructure investments. Along with expanding airports, the state is working to encourage aerospace manufacturing, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities, aviation training institutions, logistics parks, and related industries.

Officials believe that developing these sectors together will help create a comprehensive ecosystem capable of generating employment, attracting private investment, and strengthening industrial growth over the coming years.

The meetings in New Delhi are expected to play an important role in advancing these plans by improving coordination between the state and the Centre. Faster approvals and policy support for key projects could help Andhra Pradesh move ahead with its broader vision of building modern transport infrastructure while enhancing connectivity across air, sea, and logistics networks.
