IndiaPolitics – Modi Accuses Congress of Spreading Fear Over West Asia Conflict
IndiaPolitics – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday criticised the Congress party over its stance on the escalating conflict in West Asia, accusing the opposition of attempting to create unnecessary anxiety among the public. Speaking in Silchar in Assam’s Barak Valley, Modi said the central government was actively working to ensure that the international crisis does not significantly affect citizens in India.

Criticism of Opposition Over Public Messaging
During his address, delivered after launching and laying the foundation stones for several development projects in the region, the Prime Minister said the country expected a responsible approach from major political parties during sensitive global situations.
According to Modi, the Congress has failed to fulfill that responsibility and instead is attempting to generate fear among people. He alleged that the opposition is trying to portray the situation in a manner that could create uncertainty within the country.
The Prime Minister added that such actions do not contribute to national stability and suggested that the focus of all political parties should be on ensuring calm and confidence among citizens during international crises.
Government Monitoring Impact of West Asia Situation
Modi emphasised that the Union government is closely monitoring the developments in West Asia and is making every possible effort to reduce any potential impact on India. He said authorities are working with full commitment to protect the interests of the country and its people.
While global conflicts can sometimes influence economic or strategic conditions, the Prime Minister noted that India’s institutions are prepared to handle challenges and maintain stability. He stressed that the government remains focused on safeguarding national interests and ensuring that citizens are not adversely affected.
Remarks on Congress’ Political Standing
In his speech, Modi also took aim at the broader political performance of the Congress party. He claimed that the opposition lacks a clear vision for the country and urged people in Assam to remain cautious about its approach to governance.
Referring to recent electoral outcomes, he said the Congress has faced repeated setbacks in several states. Modi suggested that voters across the country are increasingly rejecting the party’s policies and leadership.
Addressing the crowd in Assam, he remarked that the state had already moved away from Congress governance and that similar trends are visible in other regions as well.
Major Infrastructure Project Announced for Northeast
The Prime Minister also used the occasion to highlight infrastructure development in the Northeast. He laid the foundation stone for the Shillong–Silchar High-Speed Corridor, a major road project estimated to cost around Rs 24,000 crore.
According to the government, the access-controlled highway will be the first of its kind in the region. Once completed, it will strengthen connectivity between Silchar and neighbouring states such as Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura.
Officials say the corridor could also improve trade routes by linking the region to broader markets in Southeast Asia. The project is expected to reduce travel time and support economic activities across the Barak Valley.
Development Vision for Border Regions
During the event, Modi reiterated the government’s focus on development in previously neglected areas. He said border villages, which were once viewed as the country’s last settlements, are now being treated as the nation’s first line of growth and opportunity.
He referred to the Vibrant Village programme, which has been implemented in several border areas, including parts of Assam. The initiative aims to improve infrastructure, services, and economic prospects for residents in remote regions.
According to the Prime Minister, the programme is already showing visible progress in districts such as Cachar, where development initiatives have expanded in recent years.
Emerging Opportunities for Youth and Technology
Modi also spoke about new economic opportunities emerging in Assam, particularly in advanced technology sectors. He said the state is gradually building a strong presence in the semiconductor ecosystem and other next-generation industries.
The Prime Minister noted that young people in Assam now have access to expanding opportunities in technology and innovation. He expressed confidence that investments in education, infrastructure, and industry would create long-term employment prospects.
Highlighting the broader vision for the region, Modi said peace and development in Assam have been achieved through significant efforts over the years and must be preserved to ensure continued progress.
