Governance – NDA Government Highlights Middle-Class Welfare and Public Services Growth

Governance –  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday underlined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s continued emphasis on supporting India’s middle class, stating that a series of policy measures over the past twelve years have aimed to improve daily life, create new opportunities, and strengthen public infrastructure. As the government recently completed 12 years in office, the Prime Minister reflected on the role of the middle class in India’s growth journey and the efforts undertaken to address its aspirations.

Focus on Improving Everyday Living

In a message shared on social media platform X, PM Modi described the middle class as a vital contributor to the country’s development and economic progress. He noted that the government has consistently worked toward enhancing living standards through better services, stronger infrastructure, and expanded access to opportunities.

According to the Prime Minister, governance during the past decade has increasingly concentrated on making life easier for ordinary citizens. He said initiatives across multiple sectors have been designed to improve public facilities, simplify access to essential services, and reduce challenges faced in day-to-day life.

Infrastructure and Public Services Receive Attention

The Prime Minister pointed out that investments in infrastructure have played a key role in improving connectivity and public convenience. Alongside physical development, the government has also focused on strengthening service delivery systems and promoting access to education and healthcare.

He emphasized that efforts have been directed toward creating cleaner urban environments, improving educational opportunities, and making essential public services more efficient. These measures, he said, are intended to help citizens experience a better quality of life while supporting long-term national development.

Healthcare Reforms Highlighted

A day earlier, PM Modi also spoke about the government’s healthcare initiatives, highlighting progress made in expanding access to affordable medical treatment. He referred to several flagship schemes that have been introduced over the years to support citizens, particularly those from economically weaker sections.

Among the initiatives mentioned was Ayushman Bharat, which the Prime Minister described as one of the largest healthcare programmes in the world. He said the scheme has helped provide quality medical assistance to millions of people who previously faced difficulties accessing treatment.

Affordable Medicines and Medical Education Expansion

The Prime Minister also highlighted the impact of the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana, which aims to make medicines available at lower prices across the country. He noted that reduced costs of essential medical products, including stents and knee implants, have benefited many patients by easing the financial burden associated with treatment.

In addition, PM Modi said the expansion of medical colleges and the increase in available seats have helped improve access to medical education. According to him, these developments are contributing to a stronger healthcare ecosystem while creating more opportunities for aspiring healthcare professionals.

NDA Marks Twelve Years in Office

The remarks come as the NDA government commemorates more than twelve years of leadership under Prime Minister Modi. During this period, the administration has frequently highlighted welfare programmes, economic reforms, and infrastructure projects as key achievements of its governance agenda.

The milestone also coincides with PM Modi completing 4,399 days as India’s Prime Minister on June 10. With this, he surpassed the tenure record previously held by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, becoming the country’s longest-serving Prime Minister in uninterrupted office at the national level.
