Governance – Delhi BJP Marks One Year with Outreach Drive

Governance – As the Bharatiya Janata Party government led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta completes its first year in office, the party has launched a citywide outreach campaign to highlight its performance and connect directly with residents. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, along with the chief minister, has been visiting different Lok Sabha constituencies to review development work and engage with citizens at the grassroots level.

Delhi bjp one year outreach

Public Outreach in East Delhi

On the third day of the programme, the leadership team reached the East Delhi parliamentary constituency. They were joined by East Delhi MP and Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra. During the interaction, the leaders outlined the government’s key decisions over the past year and shared details of projects planned specifically for the region.

Addressing party workers and residents, Sachdeva said the people of Delhi have given the BJP the responsibility of governance both in the state administration and in the municipal corporation. With that mandate, he noted, elected representatives must remain accessible and responsive to public concerns. He urged legislators and councillors to ensure that complaints raised by citizens are addressed promptly.

He also stressed the organisational responsibility of carrying government schemes to every household. According to him, booth-level leaders and panna pramukhs have a crucial role in spreading awareness and ensuring that welfare benefits reach intended beneficiaries.

Focus on Yamunapar Development

A significant part of the discussion revolved around the Yamunapar region, which lies across the Yamuna river. Sachdeva thanked the chief minister for allocating Rs 728 crore to the Yamunapar Area Development Board and approving a range of infrastructure projects. He described the allocation as a corrective step for an area that, in his view, had not received adequate attention over the past two decades.

The funding is expected to be used for civic improvements, road upgrades, and other public infrastructure works aimed at improving living standards in East Delhi and surrounding localities.

Chief Minister Reviews One Year of Governance

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reflected on the government’s first year. She said the administration has taken decisions focused on public welfare and urban development on a daily basis. According to her, the past 12 months have set a new direction for the capital, and the coming years will further improve infrastructure and services.

Gupta congratulated the residents of Delhi on the completion of one year of the government and reiterated her administration’s commitment to sustained development across all districts.

Welfare Schemes and Health Coverage

Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra highlighted several welfare measures implemented over the past year. He said the issuance of Ayushman Cards has expanded access to healthcare services, particularly benefiting senior citizens in Delhi. East Delhi, he added, has seen a significant number of residents enrolled under the scheme.

In addition, 29 new Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been opened in the constituency, providing affordable medicines to the public. Eleven Atal Canteens have also been established to offer subsidised meals, aiming to support low-income groups.

Malhotra noted that the Yamunapar Area Development Board, which had remained largely inactive under the previous administration, is now functioning actively and has cleared projects worth Rs 728 crore. He described the current administration as a “triple-engine government,” referring to alignment between the central, state, and municipal levels, and said this coordination is accelerating development work.

Major Infrastructure Projects Underway

The leaders also provided updates on several large-scale infrastructure initiatives. Modernisation work has begun on the Ashram–Badarpur corridor along Mathura Road, a key route in South-East Delhi. Authorities are preparing detailed project reports for the proposed Kalindi Kunj signal-free elevated corridor. Plans include multiple flyovers, improved traffic segregation, circular connectivity, and directional bypasses to ease congestion.

Other connectivity projects under consideration include the DND–Faridabad–Sohna corridor, the Punjabi Bagh–Tikri Border stretch, and the Mehrauli–Gurugram route. According to officials, these corridors are expected to reduce traffic pressure in the capital and contribute to lower pollution levels over time.

As the outreach campaign continues across other constituencies, the BJP leadership says it will use the initiative to both present its report card and gather feedback from citizens on priorities for the years ahead.
