Goldy Dhillon – Spain Detains Chandigarh Murder Case Suspect After Punjab Police Lead
Goldy Dhillon – Spanish security agencies have detained Gurpreet Singh, also known as Goldy Dhillon, following intelligence shared by the Anti-Gangster Task Force of Punjab Police. Dhillon, an overseas-based accused gangster, is wanted in several cases, including the killing of a pharmacy employee in Chandigarh, alleged threats to an elected representative and firearm-related incidents in Canada.

International coordination led to detention
The operation reportedly involved Punjab Police, Chandigarh Police, central intelligence agencies and Spanish authorities. Investigators had been monitoring Dhillon’s movements outside India for an extended period before he was taken into custody in Madrid.
Indian agencies are now expected to pursue his deportation or extradition through legal and diplomatic procedures. Authorities said official confirmation and further details from Spain were still awaited.
Chandigarh pharmacy employee murder case
Dhillon is accused in the June 13 killing of Janaki Das, who worked as a cashier at Shri Kumar Medical Hall in Sector 11, Chandigarh. Das was shot in what investigators described as a targeted attack during daylight hours.
Police have also linked Dhillon to a separate case involving suspected operatives who were allegedly travelling towards Chandigarh to receive instructions for another planned attack. The two men were intercepted near Mullanpur, where police recovered a foreign-made C47 pistol and a .32-bore weapon, according to officials.
Allegations of threats and overseas firing cases
Investigators have also named Dhillon in a case involving alleged threats to Aam Aadmi Party MLA Neena Mittal. Police sources said he is being examined for possible links to several firing incidents reported in Canada.
Dhillon is also known as Goldi Rajpura and is described by investigators as an associate of Canada-based gangster Satinderjit Singh, widely known as Goldy Brar. Officials have clarified that Dhillon and Brar are separate individuals.
Brar has been designated a terrorist by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Dhillon and Brar were both named as absconding co-accused in an NIA chargesheet connected to an extortion and firing case involving a businessman in Chandigarh’s Sector 5.
Network allegedly expanded after leaving India
According to police records, Dhillon left India in 2022 and later built contacts across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and the Delhi-NCR region. Investigators allege that he operated extortion and targeted-attack networks from abroad for more than a year.
In one case, police arrested two alleged associates who were reportedly assigned to carry out attacks in Mohali and Rajpura. Five pistols and a quantity of intoxicant tablets were recovered during that operation, officials said.
Another investigation concerns a firing incident at a house in Gaddo-Majra, Rajpura. Two young men allegedly recruited through social media are accused of opening fire at the property, injuring an elderly resident. Police said Dhillon later allegedly demanded money from the victim’s son, who lives in the United States.
Recruiter also traced to Spain
Investigators believe Dhillon used encrypted messaging platforms, including Zangi and Signal, to communicate with associates and avoid detection. Police sources alleged that business owners who did not respond to calls from overseas numbers were sent threatening voice messages.
Mandeep Sarpanch, described as a key recruiter for Dhillon’s alleged network, has also been traced to Spain. Investigators are examining whether the group’s extortion activities were being coordinated from there.
